Associate Controls Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading global manufacturer based in Barnwell, South Carolina who are looking for an Associate Controls Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Associate Controls Engineer will have experience in manufacturing maintenance, as well as experience with SEW drives and process controls.
Salary: $80,000 – $105,000

Job Summary:
As an Associate Controls Engineer, you’ll support manufacturing by analyzing complex machine and process issues and resolving to prevent breakdowns and maximize manufacturing efficiency. You’ll be responsible for all PLC’s HMI’s, VFD’s, DCS, and assigned production enhancement projects.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with all department employees in understanding issues related to the manufacturing equipment and process flow.
- Work with manager and electrical team in planning work activities for preventive maintenance.
- Resolve complex issues with manufacturing equipment to include servo drives, Siemens, and Allen Bradley PLC’s, and read and understand electrical drawings, red line electrical drawings via EPLAN or CAD.
- Maintain Octoplant backups for all process controls and controllers.
- Configure and monitor trending to assist Operations and Maintenance with identifying problems and preventive maintenance.
- Design and implementation of controls systems to maximize machine productivity, product quality, and process changes.
- Call ins after normal hours to assist shift electrical resolve complex issues if assistance is needed.
- Proficiently diagnose complex machine and process issues with the equipment, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and controls.
- Understand complete set up of critical machine settings.
- Analyze process issues and understand how to resolve by repairing or adjusting to factory OEM specifications.
- Repair issues in a timely manner with reasonable cost.
- Properly charge parts to the correct work order and cost center.
- Adhere to company policy and procedures regarding safe work permits, electrical work, and other procedures regarding personnel safety.
- Analyze root cause of equipment breakdowns and establish preventive measures to avoid reoccurrence.
- Communicate to Engineering Controls Manager and Electrical Team daily any unresolved plant issues, assignment delays or hinderances. Observe the operation of all equipment for issues that might cause breakdown or loss of efficiency.
About You:
- Minimum five years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance.
- Minimum five years’ experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix 5000PLC’s are preferred.
- Minimum three years’ experience with SEW drives, process controls.
- BSEE from an accredited university
- Basic computer skills to be able to use programs for work order and parts management.
- Must be able to work independently and make decisions and complete tasks with minimal or no supervision.
- Must be able to work with a diverse work force in a team environment.
