CAD Technician
Responsibilities:
- Make 2D & 3D design changes to Plastic injection moulded and electrical components, based on requests from overseas Design Team.
- Manage CAD data exchange / storage and communication to other departments.
- Generate and manage own tasks and provide regular status update to line manager.
- Assess parts & assemblies, investigate problems & report condition to overseas Design Team.
- Collaborate with other departments & establish clear lines of communication for better understanding.
- Make physical samples in our Prototype Work Area to study modifications before releasing data, working with and supporting the Electronics Engineer.
- Create cost reduction ideas, with technical feasibility using support from Design Team members.
- Clear visualisation of technical proposals with effective analysis, recommendation & identify benefit.
- Able to travel abroad for occasional short business trips within the company or to Supplier sites.
- Able to work within a multi-national corporation and be understanding of different cultures.
About You:
- Use CATIA V5 to make 3D and 2D modifications to various components within the lamp assemblies.
- Knowledge of Injection mould Tooling construction and Electrical component manufacturing processes.
- Experience of a high-volume manufacturing environment and associated processes.
- Minimum HNC/HND certificate in engineering discipline (eg mechanical, product, automotive design).
- 3 years minimum experience in Automotive Exterior component design environment (ideally lighting)
- Proficient in office-based PC applications (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc).
- Strong verbal and written skills, with organisational and program management capabilities.
- Additional Language skills preferred but not essential.
