We’re supporting our client, a leading injection moulding company based in Hull, who are looking for a CNC Machinist to join their growing team. The successful CNC Machinist will have experience of using conventional manual Toolroom machinery such as turning, milling, surface grinding and cylindrical grinding.

 

Position Overview: As a CNC Machinist, you’ll be a vital part of operations, ensuring the seamless functioning of equipment and facilities. Your primary focus will be to machine various components and products to specifications and drawings, predominantly CNC turning and milling but also using other Toolroom machinery

 

Responsibilities for CNC Machinist:

  • Reading and understanding requirements from detailed drawings / sketches and verbal / written descriptions and instructions
  • Setting up, programming and operating CNC Lathes is essential (Milling machines also desirable)
  • Responsible for all quality checks on work undertaken
  • Monitoring machine performance including cycle times, set up times and implement action to improve utilization
  • To train other members of staff, especially technical apprentices in the safe use of Toolroom equipment.
  • Comply with agreed safe working practices as well as cleaning and maintenance requirements for the machines (basic PPM’s)

 

About You:

  • Recognised apprenticeship in Machining / Engineering / Toolmaking
  • Experienced in using conventional manual Toolroom machinery eg turning, milling, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding
  • Experienced in CNC turning and CNC milling
  • Experience using Samsung CNC lathes is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in CAD/CAM (Sprutcam or similar) is desirable but not essential – training can be given
  • Experience using Fanuc & Heidenhain controls desirable but not essential
  • Experience with 3 or 4 axis lathes or turn / mill machines plus 5 axis machining centres would be advantageous due to incoming new investment but not essential
  • Self-driven, positive and proactive
  • Approachable and flexible with a can-do attitude
  • Collaborates with cross functional team members by engaging colleagues input and ideas
