CNC Miller Programmer – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a leading precision engineering company, that is looking for a 3 & 5 Axis CNC Programmer/ Setter/ operator (Programming Hypermill & Visi). The successful candidate will have experience in the CNC industry to join their engineering team in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Job Content:

  • Generation of Programs using Hypermill & Visi, for 3, 4 & 5 Axis Milling
  • Ability to analyse drawing/specification requirements, to plan own work methods where necessary, understand, predict and avoid potential pitfalls during the manufacturing process
  • To be able to identify and draw to Planners / Shop Managers attention any non-conformance, potential improvements, or discrepancies (as appropriate)
  • The ability to perform the inspection of product to Works Order/Drawing requirement
  • The ability to achieve RFT
  • Ability to follow the works orders and use models (STP, IGES) and technical Drawings in order to fulfil customers’ manufacturing requirements.
  • Ability to hand debur minor areas to complete a part before moving on to the next Operation.
  • Contribute to Production Readiness meeting involving and not limited to, Design of Holding Fixtures and stage drawings where required.
  • Ensure new product achieves Quality, Cost and delivery requirements through production readiness where required.
  • Advises and supports on Continuous Improvement Programs to improve processes, methods, routings and tooling packages to increase margin and efficiencies.
  • Inform Account Managers / Planners of required changes to methods of manufacture in order to maintain planned hours and quality.
  • Promote and improve safety throughout the manufacturing process
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as agreed from daily stand-up meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow work instructions or verbal instructions – drawing attention to discrepancies where necessary
  • Housekeeping of tooling, machinery (TPM), work holding and general cleanliness of working area.
  • Inspection and quality as per Works Order requirements
  • To ensure all duties carried out in a timely and responsible manner
  • Ensure any production readiness or account manager communication is listened to and acted upon
  • Maintain Morale at all levels of the company structure
  • Supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives such as LEAN & 6S
  • Ensure that you comply with company Health and Safety requirements

About You:

  • Strong ‘can do’ work ethic who takes pride in the quality of their work and enjoys the manufacture of components.
  • Disciplined and enthusiastic
  • Has a precision engineering, subcontract background working with an offline CAD/CAM system
  • A natural proactive nature but able to be reactive and work well under pressure
  • Ideally, but not required, experience working with Heidenhain or Mazatrol machine controllers
