Controls Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading company specializing in the manufacturing of power solutions based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania who are looking for a Controls Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Controls Engineer will have hands-on experience in designing and maintaining control systems for energy storage systems, automation or related fields.
Salary: $110,000 – $120,000

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems crucial for automated processes, equipment, related to manufacturing and testing Battery Energy Storage Systems and lighting inverters. The role focuses on ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of control systems through the integration of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement control systems for production line machinery, and equipment.
- Develop HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems to test, monitor and control energy storage processes within manufacturing.
- Design electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and system layouts specific to testing lighting Inverter and applications.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and optimize control systems during installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Ensure control systems meet safety, operational, and regulatory standards
- Understanding control logic for PLCs, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and other automation systems tailored to operations.
- Update and maintain control system software and firmware to enhance performance, stability, and security.
- Perform diagnostics and resolve software-related issues to ensure smooth operation.
- Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot control systems to ensure quality standards
- Provide technical support to the operations and maintenance teams to address system issues in real time
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including system manuals, operation procedures, and user guides.
- Generate performance reports, testing results, and documentation for continuous system improvements and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and clients, to meet project objectives.
- Provide technical support and training to operators, engineers, and other team members.
- Ensure all control systems adhere to industry standards, codes, and regulations relevant to battery energy storage systems.
- Ensure that all control systems meet safety regulations and industry-specific operational standards for energy storage applications.
- Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard control systems and ensure operational security of the infrastructure.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining control systems for energy storage systems, automation, or related fields.
- Expertise in electrical schematics, control diagrams, and circuit design
- Proficiency in LabView, SQL, and database methodologies
- Knowledge of SCADA, DCS, HMI, PLCs and other automation technologies.
- Familiarity with battery energy storage systems, energy technologies, and OSHA regulatory frameworks.
- Competence in programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or Function Block Diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on system optimization and troubleshooting is desirable.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities is desirable.
- Detail-oriented and able to work in high-pressure environments is desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines is desirable.
- Knowledge of safety standards and cybersecurity practices is desirable.
