We’re supporting our client, a leading global manufacturer based in Barnwell, South Carolina who are looking for a Controls Engineering Manager to join their growing team. The successful Controls Engineering Manager will have experience of working in manufacturing maintenance and with PLC controls.

Job Summary:

As a Controls Engineering Manager, you’ll support manufacturing by analyzing complex machine and process issues and resolving to prevent breakdowns and maximize manufacturing efficiency. You’ll also be responsible for all PC process controls and WinCC systems for production reporting.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all electrical, automation, and controls personnel and activities.
  • Assist with the allocation of electrical resources to the best advantage of the MDF site.
  • Oversee all high, medium, and low voltage activities on site to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Help build electrical maintenance systems.
  • Communicate effectively with production department employees to understand their issues related to the manufacturing equipment.
  • Work with maintenance planner to plan work for preventive maintenance.
  • Resolve complex issues with manufacturing equipment to include servo drives, Siemens PLC, process controls, LDR, SCL, Statement lists, FBD, and read electrical drawings.
  • Maintain all PC process controls.
  • Use WinCC to collect data and report productivity.
  • Design and implementation of controls systems to maximize machine productivity and product quality.
  • Call ins after normal hours to assist shift maintenance resolve complex issues if assistance is needed.
  • Proficiently diagnose complex machine and process issues with the equipment, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and controls.
  • Understand complete set up of critical machine settings.
  • Analyze process issues and understand how to resolve by repairing or adjusting to factory OEM specifications.
  • Repair the issue in a timely manner with reasonable cost.
  • Properly charge parts to the correct work order and cost center.
  • Analyze the breakdown to understand how to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Communicate to the maintenance planner any unresolved issues to be addressed on PM.
  • Observe the operation of all equipment for issues that might cause breakdown or loss of efficiency.

 

About You:

  • Minimum Five years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Minimum Five years of experience with PLC controls. Siemens preferred.
  • Minimum Five years of experience with Servo drives, process controls.
  • Minimum two-year technical degree related to manufacturing controls. Computer/Software based Engineering degree preferred. Can be substituted with 5 years of related Experience.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to use programs for work order and parts management.
  • Lean six sigma experience. (Six Sigma green belt or higher preferred)
  • Working knowledge of and ability to work within Siemens software, Sematic Manager, TIA Portal, WinCC.
  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley (AB) PLC software.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to program HMI’s.
