Shift Pattern: 42 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-4:30pm)
We’re supporting our client, a leading global packaging & plastics manufacturer based in Doncaster, who are looking for a Design & Development Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Design & Development Engineer will have experience of Injection Moulding designs, development methodology & project engineering.
Responsibilities for Design & Development Engineer:
- Responsible for supporting the implementation, execution, control and completion of specific tasks within key projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals supporting project leaders and operations as directed by the Technical Director-Plastics.
- To work within the PDE team, on the design and development of new and improved products and processes.
- To support the prototype, pilot and industrial phases of all projects, across all facilities. With component, product and performance analysis throughout the programs.
- Support in the creation and reporting of testing methods and criteria, including design and input to necessary equipment.
- Have firm alignment with the Design Manager to debug products and components to ensure maximum sales potentials are maintained.
- Recognize risk that could directly impact the likelihood of success and ensure such risk is both formally and informally measured throughout the lifetime of the projects and focus on key risks.
- Support in the creation and implementation of product specifications, FMEA analysis, Quality Control Plans and regulatory testing. For new and revised products
- Create and deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Provide product knowledge support within the PDE team when issues occur in the field or in the plants.
- Manage their own, day-to-day operational aspects of the project(s).
- Ensure that each stage under their responsibility, is progressing on time, on budget and to the right quality standards
- Work effectively within the PDE team, and site Quality & Operational teams across the business..
- Develop extensive supplier framework both local and outsource.
- Create and manage timelines (using Smart sheets and Microsoft Project manager).
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored.
About You:
- Ideally a level of qualification indicating higher educational standard achieved, with addition of relevant experience in the Plastic Packaging or Food & Beverage Industries.
- Experience or educated in product design and development methodology.
- Ideally the individual will have some familiarly with Solid works, or other 3D design packages.
- Experience with project management tools including MS project and Smartsheets.
- Knowledge and competency in use of Microsoft Office and associated IT reporting tools.
- Ideally some direct work experience in project support and implementation.
- Ideally some direct work experience in plastic processing and Injection moulding operating and set up.
- Ideally some direct knowledge of Injection Moulding Tools, in particular construction and design formats.
- The core language for the business is English, so a good standard of spoken and written English is essential.
- A second language such as German or Czech would be beneficial.
