Design Engineer – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a high precision manufacturer of power transmission products based in Westfield, NY who are looking for a Design Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Design Engineer will have experience with engineering software systems – especially Windchill/Creo.

The candidate will have close interaction with many other departments within the business. As such they will be expected to contribute to the tactical direction of the business. They must possess a professional maturity commensurate with interacting with senior managers in the business.

The ideal candidate will possess a natural feel as to how factories operate coupled with an understanding of creating designs and production models for the shop floor to implement. The individual must develop robust knowledge of the company standard Engineering software systems. An individual possessing an ambitious, driven, well-reasoned approach to matters will thrive in this opportunity.

The role is based in Westfield, New York and reports to the President.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Designs new products and components, modifies existing designs and improves production techniques.
  • Utilizes Windchill/Creo software to provide solid modelling, drawing creation and revisions.
  • Utilizes the M3 ERP system to create item masters, product structures and revisions.
  • Designs, scopes and develops new components and production drawings.
  • Coordinate with other departments and production colleagues to identify and resolve issues regarding production time, bills of materials, routings and other information to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and review data for control of planned outputs and desired efficiency.
  • Direct the review of engineering related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) against performance standards. Conduct analysis to understand variances and identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

 

About You:

  • Experience with engineering software systems – especially Windchill/Creo.
  • Skilled in the use of ERP systems most especially production set up, analysis and data integrity.
  • Highly refined critical reasoning skills employing a logical and analytical approach to work.
  • Meticulous organizational skills with the ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Deep sense of ownership and pride in performance and impact on company’s success.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams.
  • Able to resolve complex, stressful or difficult issues with calmness and diplomacy.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – MBA preferred.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience – recent high performing graduates considered.
  • Expertise with engineering software (Windchill Creo).
  • High proficiency with Microsoft suite of products.
