Embedded Software Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a well-established air technology based in Caerphilly, who are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Embedded Software Engineer will have experience of embedded C, user interface/user experience or touchscreen experience.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop electronic control and communication software for new ventilation products and refine existing products as part of product enhancement programmes.
- Undertake diagnostics of components to identify problem root causes and implement fixes.
- Utilise the teams project management methodology to work collaboratively with the team on projects from start to completion, providing expert input into new feature development.
- Support component sourcing by working with colleagues in wider teams across the company.
- Adhere at all times to established and documented new product introduction processes.
- Provide support and technical expertise to ensure existing product ranges remain compliant, updating them accordingly where necessary.
- Maintain currency of knowledge with all mandatory legislation, relevant codes of practice and appropriate building regulations which are relevant to activities that the company undertakes.
- Ongoing review and optimisation of software designs to identify and implement cost savings and performance improvements. This includes keeping up to date with core industry technologies and advancements.
- Provide excellent customer service to customers and colleagues alike.
About You:
The postholder should be self-motivated and work well in a collaborative environment. They should possess a positive outlook and be receptive to developing and implementing new ideas. They should be enthusiastic, with a desire to produce quality work as a reflection of their ability. They should be able to problem solve from first principle, challenge the norm and have strong influencing skills.
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience of designing, analysing and developing embedded systems.
- Ability to rapidly prototype embedded boards for development e.g. in-circuit emulators.
- Innovative in thinking with the ability to effectively communicate new ideas with justification from first principles.
- Strong IT skills with experience of C programming/ assembler (8/16/32 bit platforms).
- Experience in serial protocols (RS232, RS485, I2C, SPI) and ADC techniques (software filtering etc).
- Experience of code porting between difference microcontroller architectures.
- Able to build good working relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Good organisation and time management skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Experience of RF comms functionality e.g. WiFi/Bluetooth/ISM systems.
- Experience of Modbus protocol.
- Experience in Windows and Linux development environments.
- Experience of Embedded Wizard
- Knowledge of HVAC sector, ventilation, or construction manufacturing markets.
