Job Description
Key Responsibilities – Engineering Manager:
- Will be responsible for setting, monitoring and achieving clear KPIs to ensure “Engineering” are integral to attaining continuous productivity, machine efficiency and product quality improvements.
- Will promote the availability of technical data.
- Will be a key stakeholder for capital expenditure projects, site infrastructure and new converting equipment.
- Display excellent financial awareness, always ensuring value for money is attained.
- Promote best practise Health & Safety standards, implement all legislative requirements and practises denoted within in our Health & Safety Policy Document.
- Have a broad understanding of manufacturing within a Quality Management System {BRCGS / ISO90001} environment and how this will impact Engineering requirements.
- Once approval attained will be responsible for all recruitment within the Engineering Department. Will ensure Engineering staff development and training requirements are addressed especially when considering Health & Safety requirements.
- Adopt a “Hands On” approach, will mentor, train staff so as to ensure a greater breadth of knowledge is disseminated through departments.
- Will establish a good team ethic between shifts and departments, ensure technical information is readily available to all.
- Capital Expenditure projects, will specify, source and manage internal engineering and external specialist contractors for projects of this nature. Will focus that cost is kept under control and that all H&S requirements are being addressed.
- To successfully manage and control substances potentially hazardous to health {COSHH}
- Fire Marshal Certified, will be the site chief fire marshal, to implement processes to address all areas concerning fire risk management, to ensure site processes and procedures are legislative compliant.
- Will be a key member of the company “Works/Health & Safety Committee.
- Display a high competency in PLC programming and fault finding, also machine fault remote diagnostics utilising external technical staff as appropriate.
- Will implement both engineering and procedural improvements so as to achieve our desired result of both enhanced productivity and improved machine efficiencies.
Job Knowledge
- Have experience as a qualified Electrical or Mechatronic Engineer working within a continuous flow manufacturing environment.
- Exhibit the ability/desire to strive for continuous improvement with productivity and machine efficiencies being paramount.

Qualifications
- Successfully completed a recognised / structured engineering apprenticeship.
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Recognised plc fault finding and repair skills.
Work Experience
- Experience of Flexographic printing beneficial
- 3-phase electrical fault finding and repairs.
- Control panels, panel wiring, contactors, sensors, relays etc. etc.
- Repairing/fault finding, motors, gearboxes, servo drives etc. etc.
- Display successful management of large capital expenditure projects.
- Possess all the skills to successfully be employed as an Engineering Manager.
- Experience within paper conversion and packaging industries beneficial
- Exhibit strong leadership and teamwork with at least 5yrs experience in a similar role.
