Engineering Project Manager – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a leading plastics manufacturer based in Hereford, who are looking for an Engineering Project Manager to join their growing team. The successful Engineering Project Manager will have experience of New Product Introduction.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the effective planning, control and delivery for the projects you manage.
  • Define and deliver each project in line with its specific contract.
  • Manage the Engineering Change process in line with QSP 7.3.101 and the NPI process in line with QSP 7.1.101; chairing the weekly NPI/EC meeting to ensure that EC and NPI is delivered to agreed timeframes, communicating with the customer regularly to provide updates.
  • Work closely with the Operations Team to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of projects, to agreed timeframes and quality standards.
  • Support the generation of sales leads by attending client sites, attending trade exhibitions, networking, and through online marketing using Social Media and the Company Website.
  • Able to understand customer specifications and requirements, provide constructive challenge to these where required and then provide a quotation using the pricing model.
  • Provide weekly updates at the project review meeting, and monthly reports on the progress of all projects to the Senior Management Team.
  • Work with new and existing customers to identify new opportunities to provide products or services.
  • Maintaining excellent customer relations through the proactive management of projects and answering customer queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • To ensure a safe working environment exists for self and colleagues in line with the Company Health & Safety processes and procedures.
  • Supporting stock take activities, as required.
  • Work to ISO 13485 processes and procedures and have knowledge of the Quality Policy.

About You:

Essential:

  • Have demonstratable project management skills in a technical engineering focused industry.
  • Previous experience of supporting new products into production.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Experience of managing projects with multifunctional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, fluent in English.
  • Able to build rapport, building relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • An understanding of working to ISO 9001, with ISO 13485 highly desirable.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum HND in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience of working with customers to solve problems. Motivation and drive to see product through from customer requirement through to manufacture.
  • Full UK Driving License to visit customer sites.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing new product into production successfully
  • Experience of writing proposals or tender documents and providing quotations to meet customer specifications.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.

Desirable:

  • Strong technical experience in injection moulding manufacturing
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience of sales and delivering NPI in the medical market
  • Experience of managing customers through CRM software
  • Project management qualification such as APM or Prince2.
  • Experience of ERP systems, specifically WinMan
  • IOSH Managing Safely
