Fabrication Team Leader – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading equipment manufacturer based in Hereford, who are looking for a Fabrication Team Leader to join their growing team. The successful Fabrication Team Leader will have experience of leading a team within a similar environment.

Responsibilities:
- The Fabrication Team Leader will assist the Fabrication Supervisor to ensure that colleagues understand and comply with company’s policies and arrangements.
- They will allocate work to colleagues understanding their skills to perform these tasks.
- They will ensure they carry out these tasks to the company’s procedures in order that the product is machined and welded to the appropriate standard.
- They will allocate work by liaising with the Fabrication Supervisor and through the Work Centre Loading.
- They will report any over or under capacity situations to the Fabrication Supervisor.
- They will work with the Fabrication Supervisor to maintain a smooth flow of work through the department to deliver to customers on time and in full.
- The Fabrication Team Leader will be responsible for identifying any skills gaps and ensuring training is carried out and recorded accordingly.
- They will ensure that the routes are correct with the correct standard times. Any variances must be reported to the Fabrication Supervisor.
- They will report to the Fabrication Supervisor any stock shortages / over stocking which may cause a problem with completing an order on time. They will help maintain a stock of consumable items and tools as appropriate.
- They will be responsible for the creation and maintaining of all PQPs within the Fabrication department and ensure training of the PQPs is carried out.
- They will support the cross training of team members and will proactively look to be personally trained in multiple processes to lead by example.
- They will assist the Fabrication Supervisor by proactively looking at error proofing and root causes for any quality issue raised from customers through the company Quality Management system to ensure there are no repeat occurrences.
- The Fabrication Team Leader will be responsible for operating and programming Fabrication Machinery as and when required. They will operate fabrication machinery in the absence of colleagues to target a ratio of 80% of time to be direct work.
- They will assist, when required by Research and Development to help the development of new products through the Fabrication process for design for manufacture.
- They will be responsible for the tidiness in their area and assist the cycle counting to ensure stock accuracy in accordance with the schedule.
- They will be required to cover for the Fabrication Supervisor in their absence with the support of the Site Manager.
