Field Service Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading global ancillary equipment manufacturer based in Tamworth, who are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Field Service Engineer will have experience of Detailed understanding of electrical controls Inc. good understanding of PLC/Automation and a working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor and prioritise tasks, maintaining records on Microsoft Dynamics NAV and CRM.
- Reporting – Weekly & Daily on all work carried out.
- Encourage team interaction, creating an increased appreciation of the work undertaken benefiting the working environment and business.
- Extensive travel, 20-30k miles per year.
- Assist sales and technical teams when requested.
- Install and service equipment, commission, and train customer to high standards.
- Write detailed reports to communicate site or supplier issues and potential improvements.
- Support the service department if requested with breakdown situations – Diagnose faults and rectify.
- Maintain strong customer relationships for regional sites Inc. courtesy visits with or without sales engineers.
- Updating of CRM project management system for all responsible projects.
- On-Call – Weekly rotation of out-of-hours 24/7 service support.
- Manage and communicate with your Service Manager your calendar.
- Overseas travel may be required.
- Performing tasks under pressure while staying calm, focused and completing them to high standard.
- Ability to identify areas of improvement for customers.
- Identification of training to better progress your technical skills and product knowledge.
About You:
Starting Qualifications:
- C&G Electrical Engineering / Electromechanical Engineering (or similar).
- Current driving licence without disqualification, and UK/EU Passport.
- Excellent ICT skills and use of Microsoft Office, Ability to adapt to bespoke in-house system.
Essential Experience:
- Detailed understanding of electrical controls Inc. good understanding of PLC/Automation.
- Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Excellent mechanical, electrical, & fault-finding repair skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, English fluency is essential.
- Team spirit and a desire to make the role their own, recommending and implementing changes to better the role, design team and business.
- Customer focused, be astute and able to work within a busy department and be motivated to deliver on the company’s high standards.
- Ability to multi-task and provide the best possible products to internal and external customers.
- Strong communication and inter-personnel skills – the ability to communicate technical information (Inc. to people who are not familiar with engineering terms).
- Understand how to troubleshoot problems efficiently, ability to understand and manage engineers and
- customers’ expectations when giving technical support.
- Working as part of a team on site when required.
- Comfortable working on three phase, single phase and low voltage systems.
- Electrical/Mechanical Engineering time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience
Not Essential:
- Office 365
- MS Dynamics CRM
- MS Navision
- Technical report writing experience
- Plastics Industry background / Materials handling
- Knowledge of various equipment used within the plastics Industry
- Pneumatic conveying and mechanical handling systems experience.
- Plastics Industry background / Materials handling
- Project management/MS project
- IPAF qualified
