Field Service Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading global plant engineering company based in Nottinghamshire, who are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Field Service Engineer will have experience of PLC fault finding with Siemens/Rockwell and a background working with process control machinery.

Responsibilities for Field Service Engineer:
- Planned service work on plant process machinery and control systems.
- Emergency call-out work to attend site or via remote connection, telephone, e-mail. This may involve weekend work and, by agreement, may include work that is out of normal working hours
- Must be capable of organising own work schedule to suit customer requirements and management objectives.
This will involve:
- Liaising directly with customers to organise site visits.
- Writing own Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Organising tools and equipment from hire companies
- Supply and transportation of test weights to site
- Organising own hotel/overnight accommodation if head office involvement is not possible.
- Minimising travel between home/work sites by arranging multiple site visits in same area to reduce travel.
- Writing professional, quality reports for site visits. This will include photographs and calibration certificates.
- Seeing the opportunity to promote business between the customer and company in terms of plant/process extensions, upgrades, and any spares sales. Reporting this back to management
- Since the service engineer is the only employee that our customer sees on a regular basis, ensure a good working relationship is maintained.
- Present a pleasant and professional image – to the customer, you are the company.
- Support to sales staff in terms of providing time and material estimates for proposals.
- Support to the Engineering Manager and/or Project Manager for reporting and accurate estimation of service timescales and requirements.
- Supporting and assisting commissioning staff in installation and commissioning duties as required.
About You:
- Apprenticeship / HNC in a relevant engineering or technical subject is preferred.
- Ideally previous experience as a service engineer with both an electrical and mechanical background.
- Have experience or able to demonstrate an understanding of basic programming Rockwell (Allen Bradley) or Siemens PLCs and motor drives and be capable of making minor program changes, taking, and restoring backups.
- Familiar with fault finding /maintenance on equipment.
- Electrical/Mechanical/Hydraulic/Pneumatic experience.
- Be capable of accurately and rationally describing failure situations to colleagues to allow subsequent support.
- Reasonably local to our head office in Annesley as the role requires that when not performing service work, attendance will be required at our head office to support our in-house mechanical / electrical machine build and test operations
- This role involves working at heights of 20+ metres on silo’s, access platforms and building structures. Ideally possess an up to date IPAF license
- This role involves weigh scale and silo calibration. This involves lifting 20Kg test weights and can total 1000Kg. These weights will need to be removed and may also require loading/unloading onto transportation
- Capable of working for long hours under pressure
- Ideally hold a current forklift truck license
- Be proficient using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel
- Capable of providing accurate estimates of timescales for own work
- Present a professional approach when interfacing with customers directly.
- Ability to work at heights and move numbers of 20Kg test weights.
- Ability to travel, meet customers and attend site as required.
- International travel may be required.
- Driving license
