General Manager – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, sales, service, and rental company operating in the waste and recycling equipment industry based in Canton, OH who are looking for a General Manager to join their growing team. The successful General Manager will have proven leadership experience, as well as experience of hiring, firing, and growing a team.
Salary: $80,000 – $110,000

Responsibilities:
- Oversee shop operations to ensure timelines are met safely and efficiently.
- Manage daily operations of field staff including installations and service.
- Create, manage, and improve daily operation processes.
- Oversee quality control and foster a culture of professionalism.
- In collaboration with the Vice President of Operations, ensure adequate resources (personnel, materials, equipment, and training) are provided to meet the company objectives.
- Responsible for creating and holding safety meetings, working with insurance providers, and monitoring employee safety records.
- Maintain a work environment conducive to good employee morale while inspiring an overall team mindset.
- Help to create and monitor schedules of daily operations driving to meet project timelines.
- Manage hiring and firing, employee payroll, coaching and development – Management of a team of 10-15 people, with support of Service Manager, Installation Manager, and Shop Foreman
- Be customer service oriented and have ability to talk and sell to customers as required
- Drive company towards continuous improvement of P&L and margin increases
- Provide regular status reporting to company ownership
- Implement new technology systems throughout company
About You:
- Proven leadership background, as well as experience of hiring, firing, and growing a team
- Great communication skills and creating an environment of world class communication
- Proven track record of managing daily operations – logistics, managing field based technicians, but also manufacturing quality background
- Proven knowledge of safety, and fostering environment of safe work
- Understanding of business – cost of goods, job cost tracking, inventory management, project management, cost reduction
- Ability to work with technology and implement new technology at direction of ownership
- Clean legal background and willingness to undergo thorough background check.
- Proven ability to lead by example through character traits, integrity, and hard work ethic.
- Disciplined and high organizational skills
- As a new position, candidate has to be growth oriented, and willing to create this new job from scratch, at the direction of ownership
- Basic understanding of P&L
- Understanding of basic engineering and mathematics
- High School diploma
- Understanding of all Microsoft products: Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook
Preferred
- Bachelors degree in business of some type
- Has worked in the field, knows mechanical knowledge but has an understanding of business
