HSE Manager – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading global automotive equipment manufacturer based in Banbury, who are looking for a HSE Manager to join their growing team. The successful HSE Manager will have experience of working within a manufacturing/industrial environment working to develop and implement safety standards.

Responsibilities:
- Work with the Senior Management Team (SMT) in the development, implementation, and compliance of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures for the business
- Monitor, analyse and report on the effectiveness of health, safety and environmental policies, processes and procedures, providing recommendations for change/improvements as necessary.
- Work with the SMT to ensure compliance with legal and corporate health, safety and environment standards.
- Control the site HS&E risk assessment and aspects & impacts assessment processes.
- Lead the business in maintaining ISO 14001 and 45001 standard.
- Document and maintain all aspects of the controlling management system for health, safety and environmental, including corporate HSELinx reporting system.
- Provide support and expertise to the business in projects and/or activities that have an impact on employee health and safety and/or the environment
- Conduct and participate in externally (3rd party and corporate) and internal (inhouse and group) led site audits and inspections for HS&E and Loss Prevention with the responsibility for preparing action plans and following through on corrective actions.
- Maintain all HS&E records for the business.
- Oversee the HS&E Committee activities and ensure there continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
- Support and advise on Occupational Health (OH) matter to Human Resources and OH specialist/provider on case management.
- Work with the Environmental Specialist for the site with a focus on the effective management of the handling and disposal of on-site materials and waste
- Foster a safe and healthful working environment.
- Working with all levels in a positive and constructive manner to encourage interest in safety and to work with managers in maintaining standards whilst recognising the need to balance financial resources.
- Manage site claims for EL & PL loss and injury, including investigations in conjunction with Corporate HSE management and insurer.
- Drive site HSE continuous improvement specifically for Accident reduction and Safety Culture.
- Manage the Company Factory Concept for Health and Safety, Environmental, Ergonomics and Sustainability.
Quality:
- Adhere to standardised working procedures.
- Processing of policies and procedures to the required quality standards.
Timing:
- Report any issues or concerns to their line manager.
- Escalate faulty equipment, to the appropriate maintenance/facility function.
- Train and support work colleagues and employees, as required.
Cost:
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to improve departmental performance on safety, uptime, quality, processes and cost down opportunities.
- Participate in the companies CIP scheme.
- Use resources responsibly.

Specific Skills & Experience:
- 3 to 5 years experience in HS&E discipline with an emphasis on policy and procedure development, implementation and control.
- Candidates must be able to work using their own initiative, and be able to liaise with other functions and departments at all levels within the Company.
- Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Have an expert knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems with an emphasis on hazard identification and assessment of risks and opportunities.
- Applied working knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Holds either a NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ4 in Health & Safety Management.
- Valid IOSH or BSC membership desirable.
- Qualified as ISO14001 and 45001 Lead Auditor.
- Technical understanding of manufacturing or engineering systems.
- Good computer literacy skills e.g., Microsoft, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Email.
- Must be able to deliver a range of HS&E topics as part of annual training.
- Ensure the implementation of the division’s Emergency Response Plan and monitor its effectiveness by undertaking drills on site at least twice a year.
- Ideally working knowledge of Ergonomic principles and application.
