We’re supporting our client, a leading Injection moulding service provider based in Liverpool, who are looking for a Junior Project Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Junior Project Engineer will have experience of Injection Moulding, continuous improvement and project engineering.

Position Overview: As a Junior Project Engineer, you will be instrumental in optimising mould designs and moulding processes using Moldex3D simulation software. This starting position offers an exciting opportunity to learn and develop your skills in advanced moulding simulation and validation of injection moulds.

Responsibilities for Junior Project Engineer:

  • Moldex3D Simulation: Leverage Moldex3D software to conduct advanced moulding simulations, including filling, packing, cooling, and warpage analysis. Your insights from simulation results will drive design and process improvements.
  • Mould Design for Manufacture (DFM): Collaborate closely with the design team to create mould designs that align with manufacturing requirements. Ensure that moulds are optimized for efficient production processes and meet high-quality standards.
  • Moulding Concepts: Assist in developing and implementing innovative moulding concepts to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and elevate product quality.
  • Part Analysis: Review parts and recommend modifications for optimised mould manufacture, provide alternative designs, and present findings in clear documentation.
  • Mould Validation & Qualification: Aid in the comprehensive validation process of injection moulding tools, spanning from the initial design phase to final mould qualification, ensuring adherence to industry standards and product requirements.
  • Process Validation: Validate moulding processes using simulation data and real-world observations. Identify potential manufacturing challenges and collaborate with the team to find effective solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to elevate moulding processes, reduce cycle times, and minimise defects.
  • Material Analysis: Work closely with material specialists to understand material properties and their impact on moulding processes. Provide recommendations for suitable materials in specific applications.
  • Collaboration: Foster seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, toolmakers, and production personnel, to ensure effective communication and successful implementation of simulation-based improvements.
  • Training and Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in moulding simulation and related technologies. Participate in training sessions to enhance your expertise in Moldex3D and related tools.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of mould design and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Moldex3D or other moulding simulation software is a plus, but not mandatory for this role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Enthusiasm for moulding simulation and a passion for driving innovation in the field.
