Laboratory Test Engineer – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, leading global Automotive equipment manufacturer based in Telford, who are looking for a Laboratory Test Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Laboratory Test Engineer will have experience of Testing and Validation, KPI’s and project management experience.

Responsibilities:

Performance Measures

  • On time testing and validation in line with agreed milestones.
  • Kaizen implementation.
  • Laboratory KPI’s.
  • Quality PPM target.
  • DMUK safety targets.
  • DMUK environmental targets.
  • Compliance to the requirements of ISO/TS16949 and IATF audits.
  • Compliance to the requirements of LRQA safety audits.

About You:

Essential

  • HNC / HND or equivalent in Engineering Discipline.
  • 3 years previous experience in testing / laboratory environment.
  • Previous experience managing testing projects, working in accordance with industry standard test specifications in accordance with customer specific milestones.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proven test reporting skills.
  • Proven presentation skills.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook; Word; Excel; PowerPoint).

Desirable

  • Previous HVAC testing experience.
  • Experience within automotive industry.

Additional duties:

Health, Safety and Environmental

  • Ensure all activities within the laboratory are conducted with due consideration of the latest Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
  • To ensure all risk assessment guidelines for each activity are fully adhered to.
  • Ensure PPE is worn where identified by signage, SIR, or risk assessment.
  • Ensure 5S work practices are followed and supported.

Quality

  • Ensure parts purchased and products manufactured conform to customer expectation / design requirements through testing and validation.
  • Determine life expectancy of products through testing in accordance with both customer specific and internal test specifications.
  • Perform structured product analysis to determine root cause of failures.
  • To understand and support ‘Built in Quality with Ownership’ philosophy and support its application and strengthening, companywide.
  • Ensure all non-conformances are challenged, escalated, understood through thorough investigation, and supported with factual nonbiased evidence.
  • Human
  • Pro-actively contribute to your own self-development to ensure your knowledge is at an appropriate level for all current activity and future challenges.
  • Ensure participation in the diffusion of spirit and DMUK Build in Quality with Ownership.
  • When required, provide technical support to other sections, suppliers, and the customer to achieve continuous improvement and enhance DMUK effectiveness.
  • Utilise effective communication techniques with supporting sections to achieve resolution of identified issues.
