Lead Toolmaker – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a leading Injection Moulding manufacturer based in Tinahely, Co. Wicklow who are looking for a Lead Toolmaker to join their growing team. The successful Lead Toolmaker will have experience of Toolroom Leading, Maintenance of Mould Tooling and Project Management.

Responsibilities for Lead Toolmaker:

  • This is a full-time, on-site role located in Tinahely for an Injection Moulding Toolmaker.
  • The primary responsibility of this role will to be the lead toolmaker for a small toolroom team.
  • The injection moulding toolmaker’s key focus will be to maintain injection moulding tools.
  • Other key responsibilities will be the repair and modification of existing mould tools to a high standard, debugging tooling issues and implementing corrective actions, and generally, ensuring that tooling is maintained and repaired to the highest quality standards.
  • As injection moulding toolmaker you will be part of the project management team for the sourcing of new tools for clients with design for manufacture insights offered to achieve excellence in injection moulding.

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience in Plastic Injection Mould Toolmaking with experience in CNC programming for milling, turning, and spark erosion.
  • Expertise in the use of conventional machining equipment and hand tools.
  • Demonstrable experience in the repair and maintenance of tools and in the completion of tool modifications.
  • The ability to troubleshoot and solve tooling problems, and a strong understanding of mould tools and hot runner systems.
  • Knowledge of Polishing techniques and experience in welding and brazing.
  • Experience working with Autocad, Solidworks or equivalent software to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • An understanding and appreciation of health and safety principles with a mindset to contribute towards the development of health and safety protocols.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
