Maintenance Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading plastics manufacturer based in Winsford, who are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Maintenance Engineer will have experience in the electrical and mechanical maintenance, servicing and repair of production machinery and all associated ancillary equipment

Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of Plant Services i.e. Pumps, Air Compressors & Water Chillers
- Knowledge and understanding of automated equipment
- Reading & understanding of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic & mechanical drawings
- Hydraulic, Electrical, Pneumatic & Mechanical knowledge (Fault finding, Maintenance, Servicing, Testing etc).
- PLC’s Programming & Fault finding
- CNC Robotic programming & fault finding desirable
- To drive business performance via completion of technical tasks/activities related to optimising uptime of machines, tools, equipment and services
- To support the identification and development of standardised working practices that optimise health, safety and environmental standards, quality performance, speed (adherence to schedules), cost and people development and performance across all technical areas
- To define and deliver training processes and procedures that will support the development of team members to deliver world class performance in line with company policy, procedures and continuous improvement strategy.
- To coach and promote the use of lean manufacturing tools and techniques for fault diagnosis, root cause and corrective action identification ensuring processes to facilitate accurate recording for the purpose of sharing best practice in dealing with issues are defined
- Support the implementation and maintenance of SAMS & TPM processes using Value Stream Mapping techniques to identify and eliminate waste and drive down manufacturing costs and process waste within technical activities
- To ensure all activities comply with the sites HSHE policy and systems.
- To manage risk assessments and safe systems of working associated with all activities including any training and Continuous Improvement activities undertaken
- To co-ordinate, teams to analyse and manage waste reduction programmes pertaining to the manufacturing processes and facilitate the introduction of SAMS methodology in line with the Business Improvement Manager and SAMS Manager implementation plans
- To support the introduction of new and modified products as part of the NPD process, to ensure associated processes and equipment are supportive of lean manufacturing and appropriate training process are defined and delivered
- To lead and drive performance activities related to proactive and reactive technical activities accompanied by facilitation of training activities to drive individual and team performance
- To identify equipment, process and method performance improvements and prioritise corrective actions against the business plan and site budget
- To identify training needs in conjunction with the Management Team to reduce product, equipment and behaviour failures.
- Facilitate the development of the SAMS methodology throughout the business
- To play an active role in the daily / weekly production and planning review meetings
- To carry out any other duties, for which they have the relevant skills and experience and in which they can perform safely
About You:
Equipment Used and Technical Expertise Required
- Numerically and literally competent
- Time Served Apprenticeship.
- C&G Parts 1&2
- NVQ Level 3
- 17th Edition desirable
- Knowledge of Plant Services i.e. Pumps, Air Compressors & Water Chillers
- Knowledge and understanding of automated equipment
- Reading & understanding of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic & mechanical drawings
- Hydraulic, Electrical, Pneumatic & Mechanical knowledge (Fault finding, Maintenance, Servicing, Testing etc).
- PLC’s Programming & Fault finding
- PC Packages (Excel, Word & Outlook)
- CNC Robotic programming & fault finding desirable
- Lifting and slinging.
- Basic machine shop knowledge
- A technical understanding of the operation and process setting of moulding machines and of, tool setting, overhead cranes, the setting of robots and material conveyors
- Technical writing skills sufficient to produce process packs to agreed standards
- Competent use of all tools and equipment necessary for task completion
- Able to operate, read and interpret key measuring equipment
- Ability to operate iScala & Mattec to enable accurate and correct recording of work order, scrap and downtime data
- Personal protective equipment applicable to the area, environment and process of work.
- Fully conversant with SAMS
- Must have or willing to obtain skills in development and delivery of training programmes designed to meet the needs of individuals, teams and the business
- Must have a full understanding of CI/Lean principles and other world class manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Must have excellent knowledge of all manufacturing processes, including the inspection, finishing and packaging of injection moulded products.
- Must be an excellent communicator and a catalyst for change
