Maintenance Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading manufacturer of engineered technology based in Newbury, who are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Maintenance Engineer will have experience of Electro-mechanical Maintenance, Electrical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities:
- To maintain all production machinery.
- To repair production machinery following breakdowns.
- To carry out specific process development tasks as/when required.
- To support the design, build/modification of new/existing manufacturing equipment as/when required.
- To maintain production machinery and equipment in a safe, serviceable condition, including guard systems.
- To repair production machinery and equipment in case of breakdown.
- To ensure all safety and environmental regulations are adhered to, including housekeeping standards.
- To support the department with planning and conducting the preventative maintenance programme.
- To ensure all maintenance records are correctly maintained and regularly updated.
- To maintain adequate stocks of spare parts, ordering/manufacturing components as required.
- To liaise with sib-contractor for specialist service or repair.
- To ensure that all production machinery and equipment is adequately guarded to the legal requirements.
- To assist and support new product introductions, continuous improvement projects, kaizen events, special projects etc., as required.
- To identify and implement machine and process improvements. (Changes to machinery or processes to be agreed with the Manufacturing Engineering Department and validated accordingly).
- To support the design, build/modification and installation of new/existing manufacturing equipment as requested by the Maintenance Manager, including visits to machine builders when required.
- To liaise with other maintenance staff and/or shift supervisors at shift changeovers, communicating any machinery or equipment related issues and priorities.
- Perform any other reasonable request, as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Manager
- To support and assist the training of apprentice positions as required.
- To ensure a good working relationship within the Maintenance Department and across other departments, at all levels.
- To report any matters that may affect the smooth running of the department to the Maintenance Manager.
- To contribute to department strategic and organisational discussions and decisions.
- To participate and contribute in internal or external meetings as required.
- To undergo training where required.
About You:
- A recognised apprenticeship in an engineering or production environment.
- Knowledge of Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.
- 4 years manufacturing experience.
- Experience within a high volume production environment.
- Knowledge of computerised diagnosis equipment to maximise production output.
- Experience in common PC software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, etc.).
- Good communication skills
- Driving Licence (preferably clean).
- To work unsociable hours if required.
- Enthusiasm, loyalty, flexibility, the ability to work with team members and a caring attitude towards the job.
