Maintenance Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a Global Market leader in Packaging based in Sunderland, who are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Maintenance Engineer will have experience of PPM, Installations, Documentation and Maintenance.

Responsibilities:
- Offer wide ranging engineering support to the site – including all departments
- Work closely with the UK Engineering Manager to support project implementation
- Work in conjunction with and provide support to the other members of the engineering department
- Provide engineering expertise gained from the operational process
- Ensure maximum performance from equipment
- Be pro-actively looking for training opportunities for personal and department improvement
- Offer emergency breakdown response to production machinery and equipment and any other supporting equipment and services as required
- Carry out regular planned maintenance, as per the schedule
- Work closely with the UK Engineering Manager when there are projects in action; providing assistance with design, specifying, purchasing and organising installations
- Fill in accurately all records and documentation relating to planned or unplanned maintenance of the equipment
- Support and assist members of the site management team with regards to maximising machine utilisation
- Ensure that all mechanical/electrical repairs, plus maintenance to all services, machinery and equipment are actioned
- Closely monitor performance of all production equipment, note any problem areas or recurring faults, offer ideas for improvements and carry out any agreed modifications as necessary
- Maintain a safe system of work and risk assessments throughout the course of day to day duties
- Organise external service engineers and contractors and ensure that all contractors adopt safe systems of work
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s health and safety procedures and statutory requirements
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the companies ISO 14001 certification and statutory environmental legislation
- Maintaining compliance with companies British Retail Consortium and American Institute of Bakers Accreditations
- Change Management, Projects and Improvement Initiatives
- Adherence to Planned Maintenance Schedule 90%
- 100% of Log sheets completed fully and accurately
Health, Safety, Hygiene and the Environment
- Responsible for high standards of housekeeping in the engineering workshop and office area
- Responsible for ensuring all areas of engineering work on production floor are kept clean, tidy and hazard free whilst undertaking duties and returned to an acceptable standard once the work is complete
- Ensuring tools and cleaning equipment are returned to the communal toolbox after use
- Completion of cleaning schedules / documentation
About You:
Qualifications
- HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- Time served recognised apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance
- NVQ level 3 in maintenance operations or equivalent
- Experience in a maintenance role in a factory environment is essential
- Knowledge in Motors/Drives, PLC’s, Gearbox/Transmissions,
- Excellent team worker including communication across departments
- Good use of initiative with excellent attention to details
- Working to schedules with the ability to prioritise changing priorities
