We’re currently supporting our client who is a specialist in FMCG manufacturing for a range of markets. They are now looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their successful operations and a growing team.
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods). The ideal candidate will be electrically biased with a working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the facility’s manufacturing and packaging equipment; minimising downtime and maximising productivity.
Responsibilities for Maintenance Engineer:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of FMCG manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to ensure minimal production downtime.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and longevity.
- Collaborate with the production team to develop and implement maintenance strategies that optimise efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and parts inventory.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
- Identify and implement improvements to equipment and processes to enhance productivity and safety.
- Train and support junior maintenance staff, sharing expertise and promoting best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Work with external contractors and suppliers to procure necessary parts and services.
About You:
- Knowledge of slitting / lamination or converting equipment is desirable but not essential
- Minimum of three years of experience in a maintenance role within the FMCG industry.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, and actuators.
- Expertise in pneumatic systems – including compressors, actuators, and valves.
- Electrical bias with experience in PLCs, motor controls, and automation systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work shifts and respond to emergencies when needed.
