Maintenance Team Leader – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading global Automotive equipment manufacturer based in Telford, who are looking for a Maintenance Team Leader to join their growing team. The successful Maintenance Team Leader will have experience of Injection Moulding, Manufacturing Environments & PLC’s/Robots.

Responsibilities:
Safety & Environmental
- Carry out department H&S inspections as required and ensure all tracking sheet items are followed up and actioned.
- Ensure all Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work for all maintenance activities that are undertaken by Associates are followed.
- Responsible for ensuring all Lost Time, Minor and Trivial accidents are reported and investigated.
- Ensure all Company Environmental Procedures are adhered to by the team including segregation, waste disposal and COSHH.
- Identify and escalate any machine equipment or process away from standard operation.
- Identify and escalate any activity or a situation that has the potential to cause harm or damage.
Quality
- Understand and promote a “Quality First” philosophy to their team ensuring all work carried out on machine does not affect product quality.
- Liaise with Operations supervision when quality problems occur and ensure requests are actioned.
- Promote QC Circle activity within the team.
Delivery
- Completion of calendar and monthly Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules and frequencies for all machines, processes and assembly lines.
- Direct the team to support breakdown maintenance activity to improve machine availability.
- Liaise with Production Engineering and Operations to identify and implement equipment and process Kaizen activities to improve availability, cycle time, changeover, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and Quality.
- Complete alongside the team, maintenance requisitions that include red tag and blue tag plus safety requisitions allocating resource and priority as needed.
Cost
- Continuously look for cost down opportunities and increased value for money in items purchased.
- Promote cost down Kaizen with the team in all areas of work.
Human
- Responsible for team development to include discipline and performance appraisal, goals and objectives setting.
- Ensure 5S is actively promoted and maintained by the team.
- Attend end of shift handover meeting with opposite shift Team Leader and ensure all relevant information is passed over.
- Contribute to your own self-development to ensure your knowledge is at an appropriate level.
- Utilise effective communication across all functions.
- Ensure participation in the diffusion of the company’s Spirit and the company’s ATARIMAE to all Associates.
About You:
Essential
- Previous experience at a minimum of Shift leader level in a Maintenance Section within a high volume lean manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years experience of people management and development.
- Working knowledge of high volume production equipment, processes and assembly lines.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, robots, computerised controls systems and interfaces.
- Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and reading of Engineering drawings.
- Experience of H&S related systems within a maintenance department.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Desirable
- HNC or BTech in Electrical engineering
- Professional or Vocational qualification in Maintenance Management (CMI Level 3, or NVQ 2).
- Knowledge of Japanese Manufacturing methods and systems.
- H&S recognised qualification e.g. IOSHH.
- Experience of the Automotive manufacturing industry.
- Robot programming experience.
- Working knowledge of H&S legislation for machinery e.g. PUWER.
