Manufacturing Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading global Outdoor Power equipment manufacturer based in County Durham, who are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Manufacturing Engineer will have experience of Manufacturing Processes, Concept Design and continuous improvement techniques.

Responsibilities:
- Concept design of equipment to manufacture Robotic lawnmowers.
- Specification, Control and purchase of production equipment needed in the moulding and production processes.
- Continuous improvement of all production equipment resulting in increased efficiency and improved Overall equipment effectiveness.
- Justifications, Request for quotation, and Investment requests for new production equipment.
- Estimation of the product manufacture process including costs and timings.
- Ensure all equipment is UKCA marked with all the necessary documentation, and manufacturing and maintenance have all necessary training and information.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- The ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- The ability to evaluate and embrace the latest technology.
- Safe installation of new equipment. Setting up processes.
- Responding to breakdowns if required.
- Collaborate with production to identify and assist with efficiency improvements.
- Working with R&D and the New Product Introduction team to ensure the new product industrialisation process is supported by engineering in terms of product costing and product build plans.
- Support the product ‘Design for manufacture’ and ‘Design for Automation’ processes.
About You:
- Good communicator, both verbal and written
- Understanding of CE (or UKCA) and PUWER marking of machines/Equipment.
- Utilisation of lean manufacturing techniques.
- Good knowledge of Siemens PLC programming and Fanuc Robots.
- Knowledge of Control systems.
- Either a relevant degree, or a number of years’ experience in Engineering.
- A sound knowledge of Excel; Power Point & Word
- Good time management & planning skills
- Able to work collaboratively
- Able to demonstrate a “What can I do attitude”
- Prepared to travel, if required
