Manufacturing Engineer – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, rapidly expanding thermal systems client based in Birmingham, who are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Manufacturing Engineer will have experience of PFMEAs, process flow charts, SOPs, and control plans.
Salary: Circa £40,000

Responsibilities:
- We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineers to help us implement manufacturing processes that result in high-quality products.
- Get involved from design stage, through prototype build and release to production.
- Study current production processes, machine requirements and efficiency.
- To visit customer’s/ supplier premises to discuss new products, tooling, and processes.
- Work with personnel & customers to ensure our products & processes are to the best standards with prompt resolution of issues raised.
- To work in a manner conducive to safety and with minimised risk to yourself and others
- To report any health and safety matters to your line manager, department representative or H&S Manager.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure ease of production is captured at design stage.
- Lead PFMEA activity
- Responsible for the ensuring the current manufacturing process are robust.
- The first point of contact for process related issues on the shop floor.
- Resolve production related issues with quality and engineering.
- Creation of detailed & concise build SOPs and process flow charts.
- Interpret & contribute to design standards focussing on safety, quality, cost, manufacturability, serviceability & adherence to international, market specific standards.
- Report errors/quality issues with bought in parts to engineering & quality departments.
- Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance.
- Take responsibility for & manage bills of material as product moves from engineering to production.
- Identify appropriate tools & equipment to support correct or new manufacturing process.
- Identify skills or gaps in training requirements for production personnel.
- Ensure safe working practices are always implemented & adhered to.
- Create TPM for all machinery within your area.
- Find ways to reduce operational costs by eliminating waste in the manufacturing process.
- Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
- Any other duties deemed appropriate by senior management.
About You:
- Previous experience as a manufacturing engineer.
- People management
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and system assembly.
- Knowledge of PFMEA, process flow charts, SOP’s, and control plans.
- Problem-solving ability
- Development of production test equipment and systems.
- Refrigerant knowledge desirable
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
- IT proficient: solid works, ERP /MRP systems and Microsoft
- Project management skills
- Capable of working off site if required (UK or abroad)
- Qualified engineer to HND level with hands on experience
- 4+ years working in a manufacturing environment with a focus on improvements.
- Right first time, accurate & to specification
- Attention to detail & high-quality standards.
- Refined communication skills at all levels
- Able to consider & take on-board feedback & constructive criticism.
- Comfortable working with a small team as well as independently
- Eager to learn & improve.
- Able to share knowledge & experience with others.
