Job Description

Mould Tooling Engineer

Responsibilities:

Responsible for specification, procurement, project management & introduction to manufacturing process of IMM tooling. Ensuring delivery of robust & cost competitive moulding process, founded through the implementation of latest technology and engineering innovation to realise production engineering strategic goals & objectives.

Safety & Environment

  • To ensure all equipment adheres to procedures & EU Standards
  • Follow and promote safe working in line with safety policies to achieve company H&S KPI’s
  • Ensure all contractors are managed in line with procedures

Quality

  • Ensure the specification of processes to help drive the business to be a >1 PPM company following a BiQ with Ownership philosophy, ensuring quality standards are achieved & maintained
  • Ensure process controls are clearly defined and implemented fully
  • Strong working knowledge to enable generation of the quality tools of QA Network, PFMEA and Process Control Plans
  • Follow & encourage Great Spirit, promoting teamwork, quality first, on-site verification & Kaizen to encourage personal development
  • Strong IM tooling knowledge to enable support to the JTD/MFG areas on the occurrence of processing problems such as, customer concern, scrap, defect and tooling issues
  • Generate manuals and training for new & modified tooling
  • Prepare and present materials to cross functional teams and senior managers including new project gateway release & tooling investment justifications
  • Identify and implement TPM/PM tooling, focusing on a ZERO unplanned tool downtime philosophy

Delivery

  • Ensure new process implementation schedules are met, delivering the correct maturation level of tooling at the correct timing

Cost

  • Maintain tooling & machine capacity documents, identifying any risk with a strategic machine utilisation plan
  • Lead operation ratio improvement of tools to increase machine availability & efficiency
  • Define long term tooling Kaizen plans and monitor achievement
  • Create detail specifications for tooling, ensuring standardisation and compliance, including identification of tooling requirements and management of installation of process from specification to process hand over on time and within budget
  • Implement ECI/PCI within the tooling
  • Assess the impact of ECI / PCI to tooling and implement changes
  • Conduct capability studies on new and existing products and tooling
  • Co-ordinate the introduction of new products and tooling through trial builds and training

  • Contribute to your own self-development to ensure your knowledge is at the forefront of engineering
  • Willingly share tooling knowledge with mould team in order to create sustainable organisational structure

About You:

  • Minimum 5 year experience in IM tool design, development & implementation
  • Mechanical/technical HNC/HND qualification or equivalent experience in IM
  • Demonstrable experience of root cause identification of moulding issues
  • Demonstrable ability to perform and analyse capability studies & capacity plans
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and implement process control in manufacturing area
  • Demonstrable ability to specify, procure, project manage & introduce IM tooling
  • Demonstrable ability to read, interpret product & tooling cad data/drawings
  • Demonstrable proficiency with relevant 3D CAD packages
  • High level of numerical / analytical ability
  • Demonstrable ability of leading cross functional improvement teams
  • Risk management / Assessment
  • Willingness to travel for tooling buy off
  • Experience of tooling acquisition from LCC regions

Desirable

  • Engineering based degree
  • Experience of automotive manufacturing standards
  • Ability to communicate at all levels from Associate to MD
