We’re supporting our client, a leading injection moulding components manufacturer based in Petersfield, who are looking for a Moulding Technician to join their growing team. The role will be to provide operational support to the business as an Injection Moulding Technician.

 

Responsibilities for Moulding Technician:

  • Ensure tool changes are conducted in line with the moulding plan within the specified allotted time.
  • Tool changes to be completed within the 2-hour allocation allowed, with parts expected from the press within that allocation.
  • Ensure that the MRP system (Galion) is up to date.
  • Ensure all aspects of 5S (Housekeeping) & Health & Safety are adhered to during the tool change.
  • All purging’s to be weighed & weights recorded on the Production Booking Sheet.
  • Timely escalation of any issues that will cause a break in the supply to the customer to the Production Supervisor e.g. machine breakdown, tooling issues.
  • Take ownership of the escalation process, ensuring action is taken to troubleshoot & resolve issues in a timely manner using a systematic approach to ‘root cause’ problem solving.
  • Carry out machine re-starts providing trained & signed off to do so.
  • Carry out TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) on tool change before start up commences.
  • Ensure correct machine & robot program is loaded and the product is run in a stable condition.
  • Ensure a controlled check of parameter settings is completed against machine settings.
  • Produce a first off sample for the Quality Department to view & sign off to the agreed standard ensuring that the tool date stamp is correct & updated if out of date.
  • Confirm all guard checks are completed, recorded & any issues reported to Maintenance.
  • Check mould tool equipment & mould machine is fit for purpose at end of run and escalate any non-conforming issues to Production Supervisor.
  • Ensure all settings / parameters made to program from setting sheet are logged & recorded & any other alterations made are recorded.
  • Ensure tools are running at the costed cycle time, and if not pro-actively seek to align the current with costed.
  • Run tool trials and tool trial processing when required.
  • Occasional travel may be required to both customers and training development activities.

 

About You:

  • A solid background in plastic injection moulding as a Setter or Technician, ideally in an automotive environment
  • Good knowledge of the operation and use of moulding machines up to 3200t, ideally Krauss Maffei
  • Be capable of resolving moulding/process issues in a timely manner
  • Possess good knowledge of materials and their characteristics.
  • Flexible – able to adapt to changing requirements and circumstances.
  • Pro-active – keen to develop and improve current systems and processes.
  • A team player – keeping colleagues and customers up to speed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to build/maintain/develop relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Committed – ensuring the job is completed on time in line with customer requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Self-motivated – able to work on your own as required.
  • Cover other shifts (Holidays / absence etc.)
