Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a Tier 1 Automotive supplier based in Banbury, who are looking for a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer will have experience of both mechanical and electrical engineering, our client will consider applications from engineers looking to change sectors too.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in the maintenance, modification and installation of all equipment and machinery.
  • Take part in all electrical related components to include Various types of sensors, Controls (PLC), Robots, Motors, Drives, Air Handling Units and Power Distribution.
  • Spend time in all facets of project management including Economic justification, design, vendors/procurement, installation, start-up/shutdown procedures, and training.
  • Carry out Industrial electrical and controls troubleshooting.
  • Understand and modify Industrial Network Protocols including Ethernet, Profibus etc.
  • Use Siemens /TIA based PLCs on a fault finding basis
  • Optimise common controls components including variable speed drives, proportional valves, safety devices, input and output modules etc.
  • Basic HMI/Visualization editing and programming.
  • Work with and directing skilled trades employees and contractors.
  • Communicate technical and business information effectively.
  • Instrumentation & Process Control.
  • Proactive in identifying problems and finding solutions
  • To work alongside and support the shift technicians
  • Knowledge of Pneumatics / machine build
  • Preventative maintenance on machines and equipment; as well as responding to emergency machine break downs throughout the plant.
  • Diagnosing breakdown problems.
  • Involvement with new design, installation and movements of existing machines.
  • Overhaul and repair of machines and equipment.
  • To take on project work in between breakdowns.
  • Ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.
  • Perform minor and major repairs of all buildings.
  • Strong diagnostic skills, good numeracy and communication (both oral and written) skills, and ability to read technical drawings.
  • Compile detailed shift reports and fill out downtime logs.
