Operations Manager – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a metal manufacturer specialzing in Material Handling and Enclosures based in Mansfield, Ohio who are looking for an Operations Manager to join their growing team. The successful Operations Manager will have experience of working within a high-volume metal manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and Supervision – Coordinate, manage, supervise and monitor the workings of the manufacturing in the organization. Directs and monitors Supervisors to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
  • Management Operations Team – Maintain an active position on the entire organization’s management team along with the President and Vice President, developing, formulating and executing long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Sales – Meets routinely with Sales to forecast work requirements. Reviews new incoming orders daily. Has daily continuous interaction with sales/inside sales. Assists in Sales quotations, customer visits, and demonstrations. Works with customer personnel during estimating, quoting, concept, design and development and review, source inspection and acceptance throughout the project as appropriate.
  • Human Resources – Plans the use of human resources. Hires, trains, develop and evaluate staff. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
  • Engineering – Stays abreast of engineering developments and recommends new technologies as appropriate to meeting product and corporate goals. Conceptual Design collaboration. Continuous Improvement. Help manage the BOM’s and process to the floor.
  • Financial – Review financial statements and data. Utilize financial data to improve profitability. Participate with the management team in the preparation and control of operational budgets. Control inventory. Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being of the company.

  • Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Job Cost – Controls job costs by specifying cost-effective designs, parts and methods, with strong emphasis on minimizing engineering and manufacturing labor costs. Monitors job cost and conducts job cost reviews.
  • Sets departmental design standards and conducts design reviews. Ensures accuracy of drawings and adherence to established organizations standards and objectives.
  • Field Service Management – work with outside contractors and MK personnel to manage the best way to install projects.
  • Manufacturing Process
  • Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operations.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
  • Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, & maintenance, etc.).
  • Facility Management
  • Initiates and coordinates major facility projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
