Paint Operations Manager – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a global automotive manufacturer based in Banbury, who are looking for a Paint Operations Manager to join their growing team. The successful Paint Operations Manager will have experience of managing large and multi-functional teams within a Paint manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:
Safety, Environmental Responsibilities:
- Manage health and safety aspects for Paint Department
- Comply with Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949.
- Ensure compliance with environmental & Health & safety standards in line with current certification.
- Lead Health and Safety departmental meetings.
- Manage and maintain Risk Assessments within area of responsibility.
- Carry out accident investigation activities, ensure near miss reporting.
- Ensure team comply with the Lock out Tag out Procedure (where applicable).
- Ensure team comply with the Safe System of Work documents.
- To ensure all contractors are signed in with the correct work permits.
- Ensure 5S processes and procedures within the department meet company’s standards.
- Manage health and safety actions links tasks for your department.
- To ensure all team members wear appropriate PPE.
- Take appropriate actions in emergency situations.
Quality:
- Ensure internal and external quality focus within area of responsibility.
- Lead and participate in 8D’s, problem solving and risk management.
- Manage quality improvements through KPI’s.
- Ensure standardised working procedures are in place for all key areas.
- Ensure adequate process audits are in place for all areas.
- Manage improvement plans for department.
Timing:
- Manage performance through KPIs and action plans.
- Manage contingency and emergency list for area of responsibility.
- Use the escalation procedure for any issues/concerns e.g. Quality/downtime.
- Be available to support the team in out of hour’s emergencies.
- Ensure all launches occur on time to meet customer’s requirements.
- Ensure cycle times and production targets are met.
Cost:
- Manage spend within budget for department and set annual budgets.
- Manage headcount and overtime within budget for the department.
- Lead and champion continuous improvement projects to improve departmental performance on safety, uptime, availability, maintenance, equipment modifications, plant, error proofing, technical systems and processes and cost down opportunities.
- Champion projects within the companies CIP scheme to achieve 10K savings per project within the department.
- Reduce energy consumptions through initiatives and controls (ensuring weekend hours are minimised for energy consumption).
- To reduce waste within your area.
Motivation:
- Lead with the principals of the company’s employee charter
- Manage improvement plan for the areas for the department if EOS is below 80% (where applicable)
- Manage direct reports, training, development versus potential, time and attendance, discipline, team ethics and all HR matters.
- Ensure team training requirement are tracked and fulfilled.
- Carry out annual appraisals and give regular feedback as required.
- Ensure the team is engaged in the company’s suggestion scheme.
- Promote the open door policy.
- Support the Fairness Committee initiatives.
- Ensure good team working principals are being adhered by all team members.

- IOSH trained.
- Process technical knowledge and understanding. (preferred or to be trained)

- Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Good analytical skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Good communication skills
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
