We’re supporting our client, a leading metal manufacturer based in Belmont, North Carolina who are looking for a Process Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Process Engineer will have experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer, preferably in production/ process area of metal products and components.
 
Job Summary:

As a Process Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers. The Process Engineer will also identify, develop, and implement improvements to constantly improve site safety, process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Identifies potential areas of process improvement in the manufacturing environment; recommends and assists with development and design of appropriate solutions.
  • Analyzes equipment, processes, and systems to identify modifications to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable company and customer quality requirements in all assigned programs, functions, products, and areas.
  • Identifies and reports problems with specific processes or products to the respective teams. Collaborates with the Production and Quality departments to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions.
  • Collaborates with Product and Design engineers and Maintenance to share problems and solutions.
  • Assists Production and Quality departments in the development of new methods to improve product quality and process efficacy and efficiency.
  • Collaborates with project staff to create a strategic action plan and cost estimates of materials, time, labor, and other resources required to complete the project.
  • Facilitates and contributes to the development of project plans and designs.
  • Recommends and/or analyzes materials, equipment, and practices used in improvement projects.
  • Assesses the competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status of vendors.
  • Drives progress of development projects and reports on key metrics.
  • Compares the actual cost of development projects to estimates. Prepares periodic progress and cost reports for leadership and production.
  • Ensures compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support the Engineering Department.

About You:

  • 5 – 10 years’ experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer preferably in production/process area of metal products and components.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering required
  • Experience with PLC
  • Experience using and/programming machine tools highly desired
  • Experience using hand tools and gauging
  • Experience with batch processing
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, problem solving tools and methodologies
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of CAD software (AutoCAD/Solid Works)
  • Knowledgeable in SAP
  • Ability to conduct and evaluate time studies.
  • Efficient time management skills and project management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand manuals and maintain proper records.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work independently
  • Basic understanding of ISO-9000.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
