Process Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Own & evaluate processes according to GA-SP P06 – PPCR & IPA
- Follow GA-SP P12 engineering / change management
- Track project timing and escalate any delays to relevant departments
- Confirm feasibility + costs of engineering changes internal & external where necessary
- Present layout proposals for internal changes
- Ergonomic assessments
- Evaluate layout proposals with – plant support functions – for new product introductions
- Carry out / support trials onsite / offsite – document process paramaters, capture pfu’s, completion of process & equipment acceptance reports.
- Update asset register with equipment, supplier, asset #, dim’s, weights, manufacture date
- Identify obsolescence
- Raise & book in PO’s on SAP
- Update lessons learned database
- Carry out audits to ensure process adherance
- Ensue processes are correct: cycle time, manning, reject rate, process flow + equipment is functioning at optimum
- Follow up all quality alerts, actively engage in supporting closure
- Raise internal deviations when process is not to standard & follow through to ensure closure in timely manner.
- Attend / follow up red table events: Lead where possible and actively participate in root cause analysis and closure within target.
- Promote and sustain a good 5S & H&S environment.
- Support new product introductions carrying out trials with assistance / direction from project team, predominantly: IIP,IPP & ICP functions
- Creation of “datum packs” for each process stream, minimum requirement as per GA-SP p06: line doc’s: detailed process description, work instructions: cyclic & non cyclic, paramater setting sheets, FMEA,Layout
- Evaluate PFMEA at PPCR, OWN PFMEA from IPA through to end of life
- Identify & lead opportunities for efficiency improvements: Layout, scrap reduction, CT reduction
- Carry out productive capacity studies in line with GA-SP – IPA-2
- Raise & follow up PFU’s internal & external using central database where possible
- BOM ownership, upkeep and improvements to
About You:
- Assembly, vacuum/ thermo forming, general industrial machinery / tooling, setting experience
- 2 years’ experience in process improvements
- Experience in the automotive sector
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload
- Work well – SAFELY – under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Mechanical aptitude,
- Ability to use own initiative and work with minimum supervision
- Good communication / organisation skills
- Good people skills – respects GA code of ethics
- Ability to interpret & generate and maintain process documentation
- Knowledge of plant processes
- Respect of internal and customer requirements with respect to product quality
- Equipment specification and Process optimisation
- Engineering change process
