We’re supporting our client, a leading global components manufacturer based in the UK, who are looking for a Project Manager to join their growing team and this person will be based in Germany full time, with frequent travel to the UK head office. The successful Project Manager will need to speak fluent German and have a strong project engineering/management background within manufacturing.
Responsibilities for Project Manager:
- Must work in line with project guidelines and meet each SBU’s strategic goals and objectives, assessing the commercial and manufacturing viability of projects, and working closely with the sales team and customer. Ensure specification is met as per the agreed customer requirements.
- Liaise closely with NPD team and Supply Chain Management, where appropriate, to maintain regular communications with sub contractors and tool makers as necessary. Maintain the timing and tracking process to provide regular updates for cost, timing, quality and other project key measurables.
- Project Development: Support direct and indirect team members and be aligned with Key Account Managers in customer focused meetings. Proficient in MS Office and all relevant internal systems. Have clear and competent ability to run an APQP style project and support KAM with Statements of Work (SOW’s), Warranty conditions, tooling quotes and associated technical needs that are designed into targeted programs (feasibility check), ensure that customer requirements are translated and fed back into the organization (incl. commercial and technical requirements).
- Kick off project management process to ensure that all work is planned on the assigned projects. Establish project budget (engineering/project management hours, tooling, testing, piece cost) together with Engineering Manager & BDM. Recommend piece price/tooling price to BDM / Key Account Manager for further review, ensure cost targets, quality requirements and timelines are met with the lowest possible manpower and cost effort.
- Manage and maintain Workfront for the assigned projects according to requirements. Generate weekly engineering project reports and conduct Weekly engineering review meetings with the project teams and stakeholders where required. Establish and develop realistic and achievable business goals for each assigned project and formally review the performance on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain and develop current processes, with a focus on Lessons Learned and continuous improvement, and work closely with the extended Program Management team locally and globally to provide best in practice standards and procedures.
About You:
- Engineering University Degree – preferred
- Fluent in English and German language – required
- Program management skills and project management/coordination – required
- PM Qualification, eg. PMP, Prince2 – preferred
- Manufacturing industry experience and good manufacturing process knowledge, e.g. injection moulding, die casting, metal forming, assembly, etc – preferred
- Experience of electromechanical products and mechanisms, eg, including Motors, PCB, Firmware – preferred
- Good financial and cost breakdown knowledge – preferred
- Good quality system knowledge (IATF 16949) – preferred
