Purchasing & Logistics Manager – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a world leading plant engineering solutions company based in Nottingham, who are looking for a Purchasing & Logistics Manager to join their growing team. The successful Purchasing & Logistics Manager will have experience working as a procurement clerk or junior buyer and bachelor’s degree in business related field like Business Management, Contract Management or Procurement.

Responsibilities:
- Performing all purchasing activities. Include use of ERP to procure requisitions placed by engineering. Issue & Record PO’s.
- Maintain shipping register.
- Manage process of raising purchase orders for all Equipment.
- Expedite purchase orders for stock and sales order items (ERP), check acknowledgements/order confirmations from suppliers.
- Strategic sourcing of new Suppliers and negotiating favourable terms.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and update ISO 9001 certificates when necessary.
- Negotiate prices, terms of delivery times with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Control costs of equipment purchases in line with project cost estimates.
- Negotiate savings where possible to improve profitability.
- Manage current stock levels and re-order quantity and frequency to support the business.
- Record and report stock levels as required and carry out auditable stock count and account for any variances.
- Assess stock re-order requirements using all available information and forecast demand where necessary.
- Check supplier invoices as well as spares quotes for accuracy
- Arrange imports of goods from suppliers – manage customs invoice, packing list and export declaration with freight forwarder or commercial invoices with clients.
- Confirm delivery date to the clients.
- Ensure proof of delivery and initiate invoicing.
- Arrange exports of shipments to clients outside UK with commercial invoice and packing list.
- Initiate certificate of origin.
- Record tracking details on shipping register.
- Recharge any freight/duty to customers.
- Liaise with accounts department regarding new customer terms and payments.
Physical Requirements, Travel & Special Circumstances:
- International travel may be required.
About You:
- Financial and numerical skills as well as commercial awareness
- High levels of attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional talent in negotiating and communication skills with the ability to foster strong supplier relationships.
- Bachelor’s Degree in business related field like Business Management, Contract Management or Procurement
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a procurement clerk or junior buyer with negotiation experience.
Salary And Benefits
- Ability to reliably commute/relocate to site.
- Flexible working hours (start between 7:30am and 9:30am).
- 25 Days annual leave (of which 3 days are reserved for between Christmas and New Year).
- Working hours – 37.50 hours per week normal working hours.
- Additional work hours may be required to meet business needs.
- Contributory Stakeholder Pension Scheme: The Company input 5%.
- Death in Service Insurance Policy (3 x basic salary).
