We’re supporting our client, a leading food produce client based in Newport, who are looking for a Quality Manager to join their growing team. The successful Quality Manager will have HACCP level 3 minimum qualification and proven quality management experience within food manufacturing.
Position Overview: As a Quality Manager, you’ll be customer focused and have experience in dealing with retailer audits. Your primary focus will be to lead and manage the Quality Assurance Team and provide personal development to deliver end to end verification.
Responsibilities for Quality Manager:
- Manage the day hygiene team to ensure cleaning standards and schedules are achieved, maintained and monitored.
- Lead and manage factory inspections to ensure GMP is developed by cross functional teamwork.
- Ensure all employees on site understand the importance of following the Food Safety and Quality Systems.
- The development and continuous improvement and implementation of all sections of BRC and HACCP to ensure we retain AA+ grade.
- Monitor departmental KPI’s and challenge where required to ensure targets are achieved and improved.
- Lead BRC and relevant customer site visits and audits.
- Management of Non-conformance procedure ensuring effective close out.
- Management of Complaint investigation ensuring root cause analysis is carried out.
- HACCP team Leader.
- Customer account management (50%) split across prepared business.
- Completion of customer account KPIs, ensuring robust corrective actions are agreed and shared with the customers,
- Work with Managers to understand the training needs of their team in-line with BRC and customer requirements
- Ensure all Compliance training for the QA Team and Training Matrices are kept up to date
- Attend the daily and weekly meeting to represent the Technical function and communicate performance and highlight areas for improvement.
- Lead weekly consistency panels to review quality in the ‘eyes of the customer’ to drive quality improvements.
- Actively manage Dynamic shelf life to ensure the customer receives the maximum shelf life where shelf life data allows.
- Working closely with the commercial team to ensure customer communications are aligned.
- Carry out monthly finished hygiene audits
- Undertake any other ad hoc duties which may be required from time to time.
About You:
- Proven Quality Management experience in a food manufacturing environment that supplies the UK’s retailers.
- Experience of driving cultural change, particularly with BRC version 9 in mind, and dealing with a high volume factory.
- Experienced dealing with retailer audits.
- Can demonstrate a proven track record in improving Food Quality and Food Safety.
- Excellent people management skills
- Have a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Be customer focused
- HACCP level 3 minimum – level 4 desirable
- Sound knowledge of BRC
