We’re supporting our client, a leading global manufacturer based in the Zuffenhausen/Münchingen area, Germany, who are looking for a Senior Project Engineering Manager to join their growing team.
Position Overview: Manages Industrial Engineering at Zuffenhausen plant for maximum operational efficiency and lowest possible cost while controlling quality. The incumbent is part of the Plant Management team to drive and improve quality levels while maintaining an overall competitive operating costs position with our competitors.
The incumbent is responsible for the Engineering Project management of the site Zuffenhausen, supporting the implementation of the assets policy, supporting and implementing improvement projects. This also involves obtaining permits and approvals as required to implement these projects in close cooperation with the local EHS team for the site.
The incumbent is the responsible for the safe operation in his responsible area. The incumbent is ultimately responsible for all EHS functions (Environmental, Health, Safety) in his area responsibility and will maintain controls to ensure positive outcome of internal and external audits.
The incumbent will work closely with EHS, Maintenance Ensures full compliance with the company’s Code of Ethics and policies meeting all legal requirements including but not limited to company EHS requirements. Develops and implements processes to enhance organization and associate effectiveness at all levels involving other departments as well as suppliers.
Responsibilities for Senior Project Engineering Manager:
- Project management of engineering projects from the development phase through execution to commissioning and start-up
- Overlook project progress and schedules as well as preparing regular Project Management reports
- Develop the Capital Plan taking in consideration the EMEA strategy and the local needs (capacity, EHS, quality, cost etc…)
- Preparation of investment plans ACTs in cooperation with the Plant Management / Operations Team and the European asset managers. Ensure compliance with company Finance and EHS guidelines
- Ensure cost control of all investment projects for site Zuffenhausen
- Lead the technical development (including basic and detailed engineering and ACTs preparation)
- Support Purchasing in preparation and during the RFQ
- Coordinate compliance with EHS requirements linked with Engineering, especially those into the Process Safety Management System, and those related with projects, equipment and installations
- Lead scheduling and resources assignment and lead works on field till the commissioning to the internal customers and ensure all required documentation is delivered and in compliance with EHS, Quality and Finance requirements
- Preparation of analysis and recommendation of measures to improve the production methods and the production process in collaboration with the teams involved
- Facility and machinery design
- Monitoring, control and approval of material and service purchasing in the Industrial Engineering department
- Creation of work instructions / SOPs and process descriptions within the area of responsibility
- Compliance with legal regulations and internal regulations regarding Occupational safety and environmental protection (supporting the EHS Manager)
- Develop and lead energy strategy of the plant
About You:
- A degree in process, mechanical or electrical engineering or similar.
- Coatings manufacturing experience is highly desired
- Autonomous and self-motivated
- A driver of change with a high energy level, not satisfied with the status quo, capable of driving the innovation agenda as well as further expansion of the plant
- A customer focus mentality
- Has the ability to plan and implement the necessary organisational and operational changes to transform the production team into a modern, fully operational and highly efficient manufacturing site, utilizing its full potential
- Facilitator of teamwork and a good motivator to achieve the best possible results
- Strong people leadership skills, organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
