We’re supporting our client, a global leading manufacturer of specialist machinery who supply to the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and chemical industry. The client is looking for a Service Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Service Engineer will have experience of programming Siemens software from scratch and servicing / commissioning machinery.

 

Responsibilities for Service Engineer:

  • Performing site visits for the purpose of installation, commissioning, training, upgrades and breakdowns.
  • Writing, debugging and commissioning of software onsite for the purpose of production line integrations.
  • Liaising with the company’s in-house personnel as required for assisting with resolving site issues.
  • Being a ‘representative’ of the company in front of the client/ customer and acting in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Providing remote software diagnostics and support for machine breakdowns, upgrades and installations.
  • Providing telephone and/ or email support for machine breakdowns.
  • Liaising with the Spares/ Service Administrator to ensure the support log is kept up to date with customer status.
  • Liaising with the Spares Team so quotes can be produced for customers for parts and/or support.
  • Assisting the software/ electrical team in-house with commissioning and testing of machines before shipment.
  • Complete in-house documentation as part of the company’s commitment to quality such as test plans, validation documents etc.

 

About You:

Essential

  • A recognised qualification in Electronic/ Electrical/ Controls Engineering i.e. BTEC, HNC etc
  • Electrical/ Software (PLC) Engineering background
  • Electrical certification for working with 3 phase installations
  • 5+ years of experience in servicing machinery
  • 5+ years of experience in fault finding machinery
  • 5+ years of experience programming with Siemens/ Allen Bradley software
  • Ability to fault find machines and implement reliable solutions
  • Ability to look for and recommend features for product development to improve the product range
  • Fully conversant with MS Office
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must hold a valid passport
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Prepared to travel to customer/ suppliers in the UK and overseas for service, installations and inspections.

 

Desirable:

  • Degree educated in electrical/ control systems engineering
  • Chartered or working towards chartered status
  • Experience of installing/ commissioning packaging machinery
  • Experience in commissioning production lines
  • Experience in line validation and completing validation documentation
