Shift Leader – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a leading global Storage components manufacturer based in Banbury, who are looking for a Shift Leader to join their growing team. The successful Shift Leader will have experience of Injection Moulding Production Processes, KPI’s and Training staff.

Shift Pattern:               Continental, 3 on 3 off.

Responsibilities for Shift Leader:

Effectively supervising a shift within the Injection Moulding Department to ensure the smooth running of the production process. Supervising and training staff to maximise potential output. Ensuring production output levels are maximised in line with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Ensuring compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety procedures.

  • Meets production requirements in accordance with forecasted demand levels.
  • Has direct responsibility for the performance of assigned shift team while also ensuring that wastage is kept to a minimum.
  • Ensures availability of materials to automated production line.
  • Works positively with all functions to identify and manage issues and drive improvements.
  • Has responsibility for all stock transactions to ensure system accuracy.
  • Ensures Production cells comply with company procedures, work instructions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts daily briefing sessions prior to shift start.
  • Ensures the cells are appropriately resourced so that production targets are achieved in a timely & efficient manner.
  • Continuously reviews the manufacturing plan for optimal usage of operational labour.
  • Provides a clear and concise handover to the next shift leader ensuring priorities are captured and problems highlighted.
  • Supports and motivate the team to work efficiently to meet production demand.
  • Develops team competence through training.
  • Creates a positive and respectful environment within the area.
  • Ensures that team and work areas are in a safe condition at all times, complying with statutory and Company Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
  • Manages and reports absence and sickness.
  • Carries out disciplinary procedures in line with company policies.
  • Manages daily/weekly payroll reporting for permanent and temporary staff in line with company policies
  • Manages company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinates with other departments in daily production meetings to meet production demands.
  • Interacts with shop floor colleagues on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies and production plan.

About You:

  • Previous experience in a similar position within manufacturing.
  • Strongly analytical and able to display critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience and appreciation of organisation of shop floor work process and priorities.
  • Technical expertise of injection moulding preferred but not essential.
  • Able to take personal leadership to develop and promote fundamental disciplines and principles through cross-functional team-building;
  • Highly self-motivated, demonstrating passion;
  • a team player with a flexible and ‘can-do’ attitude;
  • Well organised and an adherence to administrative procedures to ensure that records are accurate and accessible to other members of the team;
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills;
  • Possesses a technical aptitude to understand manufacturing cells;
  • Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts;
  • Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations at all times, including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as applicable; Ensuring adherence from other members of the team;
  • Demonstrates and actively promotes company values.
