Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + Quarterly Bonus

We’re supporting our client, a leading global adhesives manufacturer and distributor based in Northwich, who are looking for a Technical Applications Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Technical Applications will have experience in new business development and formal sales training.
Position Overview: As a Technical Applications Engineer, you’ll act as an ambassador for the company, building a network of connections through networking, social media and referrals. Your primary focus will be on building strong relationships with customers and be their contact for any feedback and/or queries.
A Day in the Life: The day starts with a 7am team huddle where you discuss any challenges from yesterday and what you will be achieving today. You will check the GP, activities and undertake tasks to grow the GP including managing existing customer relationships and through new opportunities. You will be accountable for margin management and on-site team testing for new products. You will be travelling across the country a lot and doing a lot of meetings. This can mean regular early starts and late finishes as you travel.
Responsibilities for Technical Applications Engineer:
- Calls and Visits – Booking 1st meetings, hitting the contact numbers, managing the pipeline and opportunities.
- Own GP and Team GP – Delivery of your own GP growth, First Orders
- Sales Support – Loading visit notes on CRM, booking meetings in outlook calendar, preparing notes for upcoming visits, doing quotes, follow up actions from previous meetings, booking travel arrangements.
About You:
- Must have had some formal sales training
- Must have at least 2 years’ experience in new business development
- Good geographical understanding to plan travel
- Sold a similar product type such as ink, coatings, packaging etc.
- Must be comfortable in a 360° role where you are booking meetings
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook etc is beneficial
- Some past experience in adhesives would help
- A-Level or degree in a science would be helpful
- Highly Organised
- Love speaking to new and existing customers
- Comfortable getting on the phone and going to visit new/existing customers
