Tendering & Quotation Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • To undertake the effective development and preparation of commercial and technical Offers across the range of products and services that enhances the prospect of securing orders for the business.
  • To effectively assess and validate incoming enquiries to identify our ability to offer and strategies to enhance the success of such offers.
  • To respond effectively to customer requests for modifications and revalidations of issued Offers.
  • To liaise with other members of the business development and sales team to ensure an understanding of timescales and tactics in the preparation of Offers.
  • To liaise with Engineering and Production departments to ensure technical aspects of customers’ requirements are met in the most cost-effective manner.
  • To control the quality and accuracy of the bid in respect of costs and lead times to ensure the optimal solution is submitted to the customer.
  • Reviewing tender Terms and Conditions and arriving at appropriate clarifications and exceptions as necessary, in consultation with legal/risk management.
  • Providing oversight in the preparation and compilation of additional documentation required to complete the bid package.
  • Where necessary, to attend resulting meetings for technical clarifications and commercial negotiations in respect of Offers submitted.
  • Where necessary, to offer support for external sales resources to support business development and sales success both office-based and externally.
  • From time to time, based on business needs you may be asked to fulfil any reasonable request from management.

About You:

Essential

  • Experience in the development of technical and commercial quotations.
  • Low voltage experience in circuit breakers, switchgears, fuses, switchboards etc

Desirable

  • AutoCAD
  • Exposure to Contractual and Commercial issues to understand business risk profiles.
  • BTEC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Able to plan, co-ordinate and complete tasks effectively and accurately.
  • Personal commitment to ensuring that Offers generated are technically and commercial correct and generated within required timescales.
  • Communications and influencing:
  • Communicate effectively with both colleagues and management.
  • Project a professional image to external stakeholders.
  • Engaging, accurate, confident and precise.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to self-manage workload.
  • Understand when to consult with team and other experts as and when required.
