Responsibilities:

  • Develop inhouse test facility, equipment and procedures to enable inhouse design verification and validation, and performance testing of full product assemblies in accordance with industry requirements.
  • Develop and manage project Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&Rs).
  • Performs testing, documents and develops new test procedures and internal testing standards.
  • Documents and presents technical information and insights during design reviews.
  • Develops innovative solutions and technologies to testing problems considering customer needs.
  • Manages outsourced testing where appropriate.
  • Develops and supplies technical information to other groups and departments as required. These groups would include Design, Tooling, Sourcing, Testing, Analysis, Manufacturing Engineering, Tech Pubs, Industrial Design, Quality, Service and Marketing.
  • Helps develop innovation/learning test plans with Engineering team.
  • May present innovation projects to platform managers, marketing managers, executives, etc.
  • Performs engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned.
  • Prepares, secures and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information, and manages procurement of required equipment.
  • Investigates problems and requirements of assigned projects and develops plans for solutions in line with established project objectives.
  • Collaborates with engineers to provide follow-up and engineering assistance on assigned projects.
  • Supports multiple projects concurrently.
  • Participates in technical design reviews related to technology and sub-systems that will be used on assigned platform and innovation projects.
  • Receives general direction but exercises discretion as to personal work details.
  • Results Orientation – focus on delivering to project milestones and timelines.

About You:

  • A good mechanically biased engineering degree and 3 – 10 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and perform test function for verification and validation in similar engineering role.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete small to moderately complex engineering assignments.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and to use and understand engineering software tools.
  • Ability to work on technical projects of varied complexity and size.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly.
  • Used to working in multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Experience in the use of a range of engineering materials and with several manufacturing methods and techniques.
