Job Description

Tool Designer – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a leading Injection Moulding manufacturer based in West Drayton, who are looking for a Tool Designer to join their growing team. The successful Tool Designer will have experience of Injection Moulding, Solidworks and Understand Design Processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining high health and safety standards at all times
  • To design injection mould tool design for internal manufacture and oversea external tooling design
  • Advise customers on designing components suitable for the plastic injection moulding process and ensure suitability for tooling manufacture
  • you will be required to work under your own initiative and work independently as well as part of a team to ensure that tooling standards are maintained and best quality products can be produced
  • To support sales with design/tooling queries and to provide technical support at customer meetings
  • To assist in obtaining and reviewing new tool quotations
  • On Gateway 1 or receipt of purchase order to prepare tooling go documents and send to toolmaker
  • To support N.P.I. with design and technical advice on tooling issues or customer queries
  • To support TPM Team with tooling information
  • To liaise engineering to ensure tooling is suitable
  • Maintaining company objectives on quality, delivery and environmental policies
  • Knowledge of injection moulding processes and machine inputs. Outputs
  • Adhere to company NPI processes

About You:

  • Able to work in a team environment and also on your own initiative.
  • Communicate effectively using a variety of different methods at all levels of the business with a positive attitude and drive to get things completed
  • Apprentice trained or HNC qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Tool design experience within the plastic injection mould
  • Press mould experience is desirable
  • Experience in reading 2D & 3D mould designs using CAD systems
  • Experience with Solidworks
  • Design experience of complex moulding tools i.e. hot runners, insert tooling etc.
  • A good understanding of moulding processes and a wide range of polymers
  • Attitude to progress knowledge and skill within the role by attending training courses etc.
