Job Description

Tool Designer – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a leading global equipment manufacturer based in Anderson, South Carolina who are looking for a Tool Designer to join their growing team. The successful Tool Designer will have experience of working within a high-volume metal manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, plan and execute the design of progressive and modular stamping tooling.
  • Review and examine sample parts sent by customers to be manufactured, to determine feasibility of manufacture or production in progressive tooling.
  • Review customer orders, requirements and specifications.
  • Manage or participate in die reviews and changes made by customer or process improvement changes.
  • Identify, select, source and create BOM for tooling to be used in new die builds or die modifications
  • Collaborates in a team environment with production personnel, toolmakers, CNC programmers and various vendors to optimize tool design.

 

About You:

  • 5+ years’ experience in designing single hit and progressive metal stamping dies.
  • 2-4 years of advanced education or equivalent experience in the mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Must have experience in leading edge design solutions and provide unique/creative solutions using available resources.
  • Must have the ability to visualize complex 3-dimensional geometry and motion.
  • Must have strong General Machine Tools/Tool Room equipment skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize, work as a team leader/member.
  • Proficient using AutoCad Inventor, Solidworks software to produce 3D solid models, assemblies and detailed 2D drawings to be used in building or modifying new or existing tooling and maintain as built drawing updates.
  • Must be capable of reading and comprehending complex blueprints using GD&T and other related documentation.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent high level math skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel regionally to visit customers when needed.
  • Willing to assume other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
