We’re supporting our client, a leading manufacturer based in Elkridge, Maryland who are looking for a CAD Draftsman to join their growing team. The successful CAD Draftsman will be proficient in Autodesk Inventor and have a strong understanding of mechanical design principles. While direct experience with plumbing and electronics is not essential, the successful candidate must be comfortable integrating these disciplines into overall system designs in collaboration with other engineering specialists.
Job Summary:
As a CAD Draftsman, you’ll be focusing on developing high-quality 3D models and technical drawings for bathroom vanity and mirror systems, including cabinetry, integrated mirrors, and associated components.
Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor for bathroom vanities, mirror systems, and cabinetry.
- Work closely with engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure designs meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturability requirements.
- Incorporate plumbing and electrical components into overall system layouts, coordinating with specialists as needed.
- Prepare assembly drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and detailed part documentation.
- Maintain version control and drawing standards in line with company protocols.
- Support the development of prototypes and assist in design revisions based on testing or feedback.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and documentation practices.
About You:
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (required).
- Experience preparing detailed mechanical and product design drawings.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and fabrication methods (sheet metal, cabinetry, etc.).
- Ability to interpret and integrate plumbing and electrical layouts within mechanical designs.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience designing bathroom furniture, fixtures, or architectural components is preferred.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or AutoCAD (in addition to Inventor) is preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC fabrication, assembly, and finishing is preferred.
- Understanding of product design for commercial or architectural environments is preferred.
