We are recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join a leading metals and steel manufacturer in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality engineering professional with a background in nuclear, heavy manufacturing, steel, or regulated industries.
 
Job Summary:

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality, process control, and regulatory compliance within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. You will bring experience from highly regulated sectors (e.g., nuclear) to strengthen quality systems and drive continuous improvement.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Apply nuclear quality standards (NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B) to manufacturing processes
  • Maintain and improve the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, ASTM, API and customer specifications
  • Drive process improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, and error-proofing
  • Develop inspection plans, test procedures, and quality controls
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA, 5 Why, FTA) and implement CAPA
  • Support Kaizen events, scrap reduction, and yield improvement projects
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations on process validation and new product introduction
  • Conduct internal audits and supplier quality activities
  • Produce quality reports, non-conformance reports, and documentation

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, Metallurgical or similar)
  • 3–7+ years’ experience in quality engineering
  • Background in nuclear, steel, metals, or heavy manufacturing preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, NQA-1, ASME, ASTM
  • Experience with SPC, FMEA, MSA, control plans, root cause analysis
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and material specifications
  • Lead Auditor certification preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is advantageous
  • Experience with NDT/NDE, metallurgical testing, or regulated environments beneficial
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
