We’re supporting our client, a leading metal manufacturer in Shelby, North Carolina, in the search for a Multi Craft Technician to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong electrical and mechanical skills who enjoys solving problems, reducing downtime, and keeping production running efficiently.
 
Job Summary:

As a Multi Craft Technician, you will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve electrical and mechanical systems across assigned production areas. You will play a key role in supporting manufacturing output, product quality, equipment reliability, and plant safety.

This role suits a self-starter who can work independently, respond quickly to equipment issues, and collaborate effectively with leaders, supervisors, engineers, contractors, and production teams.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and mechanical equipment faults in a manufacturing environment.
  • Diagnose and repair PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures and work in line with OSHA and site safety requirements.
  • Restore production quickly through fault finding, rapid analysis, and effective repair.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical instructions.
  • Align, fit, assemble, repair, rebuild, clean, test, and maintain machinery and component parts using hand and power tools.
  • Support the installation, startup, and ongoing operation of new equipment to ensure it performs to specification.
  • Develop and carry out preventive maintenance and calibration schedules.
  • Work with engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to complete maintenance and improvement activities.
  • Provide input on the design, installation, maintenance, and improvement of equipment and systems.
  • Fabricate parts such as mounts, brackets, and shields, and operate welding and cutting equipment as required.
  • Help train team members on work methods, equipment use, and safety procedures while maintaining plant facilities and equipment in good working order.

 
About You:

  • At least 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining industrial machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic systems; a relevant degree is preferred.
  • Understanding of OSHA machine regulations and safe working practices.
  • Experience with machine operation, controls, and programming systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC logic and industrial troubleshooting methods.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A positive attitude and a team-focused approach.
