We’re supporting our client, a leading global packaging manufacturer based in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, who are looking for a Converting Supervisor to join their growing team. The successful Converting Supervisor will have experience of production oversight, workforce scheduling and performance monitoring.

Job Summary:

As a Converting Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all operations of the Converting Department during the second shift. This role ensures production meets established productivity, safety, and quality goals while maintaining compliance with company policies and fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Oversight: Supervise daily operations to ensure customer orders are produced according to schedule, customer specifications, and company quality standards.
  • Workforce Scheduling: Assign hourly employees to tasks based on operational needs, skill levels, and labor contract provisions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track production levels, identify and resolve issues, and implement solutions to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Safety & Housekeeping: Enforce plant safety policies and housekeeping standards, actively promoting a culture of safety awareness among all employees.
  • Training & Development: Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and guidance to employees; address performance issues and administer discipline when necessary.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and workplace expectations.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, reports, and other required documentation; communicate effectively with department managers and other supervisors.
  • Meetings & Communication: Participate in the daily production meeting at 2:30 PM and clearly communicate shift plans, priorities, manpower needs, and carryover items.
  • Team Leadership: Lead by example, building a positive team environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Understanding of lean and process improvement concepts.
  • Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Clear communication and collaboration with supervisors and managers.
