We’re supporting a leading automation manufacturer in Bristol, Connecticut, who is expanding their service team and looking for an experienced Field Service Technician.
This is a hands-on role working with advanced automation machinery, PLC systems, and industrial equipment, focused on maximising uptime and performance.
 
Job Summary:

As a Field Service Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair automated machinery across customer sites. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, solving technical issues, and supporting continuous improvement.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission automated machinery and systems
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and automation faults
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and system inspections
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems
  • Support engineers with technical requirements and system performance
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Train operators and technicians on equipment and processes
  • Manage parts requirements and communicate issues proactively
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives

About You:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Proven problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Strong communication skills with both customers and internal teams
  • Able to manage workload and meet service deadlines
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role
  • Background in manufacturing, automation, or industrial engineering
  • High School Diploma required
  • Associate degree or certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Advanced Manufacturing (desirable)
  • Valid driver’s license and US passport
