We’re supporting a leading automation manufacturer in Bristol, Connecticut, who is expanding their service team and looking for an experienced Field Service Technician.
This is a hands-on role working with advanced automation machinery, PLC systems, and industrial equipment, focused on maximising uptime and performance.
Job Summary:
As a Field Service Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair automated machinery across customer sites. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, solving technical issues, and supporting continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Install and commission automated machinery and systems
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and automation faults
- Carry out preventative maintenance and system inspections
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems
- Support engineers with technical requirements and system performance
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
- Train operators and technicians on equipment and processes
- Manage parts requirements and communicate issues proactively
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
- Support continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives
About You:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- Proven problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Strong communication skills with both customers and internal teams
- Able to manage workload and meet service deadlines
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- 3–5 years’ experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role
- Background in manufacturing, automation, or industrial engineering
- High School Diploma required
- Associate degree or certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Advanced Manufacturing (desirable)
- Valid driver’s license and US passport
