Maintenance Manager – Job Summary:

We’re supporting our client, a leading metal manufacturer based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania who are looking for a Maintenance Manager to join their growing team. The successful Maintenance Manager will have experience of working within a high-volume manufacturing environment leading a team of maintenance technicians / engineers.

Job Summary:

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the company’s maintenance department, which includes directing, overseeing, and leading the company’s maintenance team members. Identifies and ensures appropriate action is taken to meet the maintenance needs, including capital projects and preventative maintenance of the various buildings through a prioritized plan of work, which allows for quick response to critical needs. This position will manage the business through strong partnerships with plant leadership teams, operations, engineering, quality, and corporate finance creating a true asset management culture for continuous improvement. Work closely with maintenance team members to prevent/solve larger operational issues and to ensure that defined maintenance KPI’s are being met.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Sets priorities and coordinates crew activities and assignments and is responsible for the daily maintenance, repairs and upgrades to equipment and building maintenance.
  • Conducts periodic inspection of all plant systems, equipment, facilities, and grounds.
  • Oversees all changes or upgrades.
  • Ensures preventive maintenance is followed on production equipment by scheduling repairs and upgrades while simultaneously working to maximize plant uptime.
  • Coordinates with Plant Managers to maximize uptime.
  • Ensures efficiency and high standards are being maintained.
  • Communicates and directs the application of prescribed safety and environmental regulations to maintenance staff.
  • Consults with and provides information and guidance to engineering personnel on projects related to plant systems, furnaces, building and grounds.
  • Reviews and approves vendor bids.
  • Coordinates and directs outside contracting work.
  • Prepares estimates and specifications of plant projects, determining crew size, trades involved, and materials required to complete projects.
  • Manages facilities equipment and tooling spare parts inventories to assure operational readiness.
  • Ensure departmental personnel are properly trained and provided with appropriate development as required (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, controls, HVAC, emergency generators)
  • Initiate and/or maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program and Implement quality improvement and cost reduction ideas.
  • Develops a proactive maintenance process and attitude among Maintenance Team Members.
  • Establishes processes for maximizing the use and value of computerized maintenance tracking software.
  • Responsible for estimating and maintaining the annual maintenance budget.

 

About You:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of related maintenance experience including leading people and projects.
  • Mechanical Engineering or related field education or experience preferred.
  • Must have Manufacturing or Industrial Experience
  • Previous experience managing operations and maintenance activities for mission critical infrastructure in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Must possess superior organizational skills and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects.
  • Requires solid interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with all employees and cross-functional partners.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated experience in cost and organizational optimization.
  • PLC/Controls and/or electrical experience not required, but a plus.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
