Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 7AM to 3:30PM
We’re supporting our client, a leading mechanical manufacturer based in Oak Park, Michigan who are looking for a Pump Service Technician to join their growing team. The successful Pump Service Technician will have a basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn pump systems and repair techniques.
Job Summary:
As a Pump Service Technician, you’ll be responsible for assisting in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of pumps while also supporting administrative functions such as parts ordering, project documentation/organization, and technical reporting. This hybrid role combines hands-on mechanical work with essential administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the disassembly, inspection, and repair of various types of pumps and associated equipment (centrifugal, submersible, vacuum pumps, heat exchangers, etc.).
- Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance under the supervision of senior technicians.
- Assist with field service work, including on-site pump maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in performing pumping station inspections and support preventative maintenance tasks at customer locations.
- Communicate professionally with customers to provide updates on repair status and clarify service needs
- Maintain a professional standard of cleanliness and organization within the work area.
- Write up incoming pumps for repair, including capturing customer information and initial condition reports.
- Order parts and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Close out completed projects in the system, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Assist in preparing technical service reports and customer documentation.
- Assist with shop and project organization.
About You:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or coursework in mechanical systems is a plus.
- 2-year associates degree in a technical field preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn pump systems and repair techniques.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, One Drive) and comfortable learning service management software.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop and field environment.
- Previous experience in a mechanical field or technical clerical support role is preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment or pump systems is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude is preferred.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments is preferred.
